I expect.some trades of lesser pieces tomorrow for draft picks. I see Stanley and Dillion being moved.
Yup feel like we get a 2nd for Dillon. Stanley? Maybe the same

I wonder if the strategy with Schiefele and Helle is to keep them at the start of the Season and then:
Trade them at the deadline if team is outside the playoffs
Or
If the team is doing well, parlay that success with some trade deadline acquisitions to change their minds into re-signing (Especially Helle)

If helle don't wanna be here, he won't be here when the season starts...
Same with Mark
The problem with this approach is what if the Jets are fighting for the final wildcard spot or in that final wildcard sport? Then you are in a sticky spot, it'll be hard to move them but if you don't you lose them for nothing.
I think the Jets should either re-sign both players or trade them this off season. Worst case, you can start the season with Scheifele but you gotta move or re-sign Helle in the summer unless you want to make your life harder next year.

Helle has already come out and said he's playing for the Jets this season unless something changes... he's not sitting out
With the restructure and assuming Wheeler buyout... the only 'contender' that can afford the 9m a year... kind of seems like the Jets...
Offer Helle 8 years at $8m - then if Divincentis emerges in 3-4 years the cap will be high enough that its a fair trade with retention
Trade Scheif at the deadline for a massive haul
Except Helle shows up every game... Scheif checked out after getting benched - that's not respect for management^^ This. Despite the reports of Helle not Resigning long term, he has allot of respect for management and would not hold out. The relationship between player, agent and management has always been in good standing. Virtually similar situation with Schiefele.

Not getting Mercer IMHOHelle wants a cup.
If he is playing for Winnipeg, he will try his hardest to win that cup.
I see him going to the Devils.
Helle signed and traded for 7 x 8.5m and Iafallo (1.25m retained) for Mercer?
Where is him sitting out even coming from? He's under contract. If he sits out then his contract is breached and goes another year. There is no situation where he sits, unless I'm missing something.Helle has already come out and said he's playing for the Jets this season unless something changes... he's not sitting out

What do you think we wold have to add to Helle to get him?Not getting Mercer IMHO

Thanks for the clarification. I only saw the responses. To the original post: that doesn't make sense and has a 0% chance of happening.A few posters (including me) responded to one of the posters in this thread who said Scief and Helle would not play for the Jets this cominf season. So really a non story. Multiple people pushing back against this one post made it look bigger than it is
Except in this day and age... trading an injured player on LTIR is probably almost as valuable to a contender as trading a healthy player...I just think it's a dumb move if helle and Mark ain't signing new deals to risk having them get injured during the year and having to keep them and lose them for nothing next off season
It's not a good strategy. July 1 is coming soon, you either sign them to extensions or move them. Going in to the season with 1 year left for both is just poor asset management. You trade them this off season. Probably July 1st or later tho

Lucius?
