Here is my list of what I think are likely returns for Helle from the teams interested.

Buffalo
1 of 13th overall, Krebs, Savoie or Ostlund
Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen
Possibly some picks or B prospects

Detroit
1 of 9th Overall, Kasper, Wallinder
Ville Husso
Possibly some picks or B prospects

NJ
Holtz
Schmid
Possibly some picks or B prospects

Pitts
1 of 14th overall or Pickering
Gauthier
Possibly some picks or B prospects

If we get anymore than that from any of those teams I'd consider it a massive massive win. I think it's also imperative we get some sort of goalie or goalie prospect back in this deal.

As far as rental goes LA, Edmonton, Colorado, Toronto and Ottawa might be interested but the price is likely much lower for that to happen. Probably closer to the range of a late 1st, B prospect and Cap dump.

I have a feeling that we are going to have to accept less then we think for Helly. Gut feeling no concrete evidence but I thought he would be dealt already unless they are saving it for the draft floor

What do people see in UPL?

He seems to be a serviceable goalie, a bit inconsistent. I think his inclusion in any Buffalo proposals is just being realistic that Devon Levi is probably not leaving Buffalo in a Hellebuyck.

I think you might see a young quality goalie that maybe ready to break out. I think Buffalo were a bunch of wild horses and didn't play sound defensive hockey and that hurt him. Buffalo fans have anointed Lind as the 2nd coming but he wasn't exactly great in the 7 games he got.

I think UPL coming back just gives us a guy with some experience that might break out under a better defensive system here

Fair enough.

I wonder if #18 + Heinola for #22 + Sanheim would get anything done. Probably not, but Philly is also on the clock with that NTC, they can't wait forever if they really want to go scorched earth with their rebuild.
What are the subsequent moves you'd have to our D group?
Would you include MTLs 2024 2nd too if it's too light for PHI?

Heinola, 2024 2nd (probably mid 30s pick), +4 spots in the 1st for Sanheim.

I said it above but with the crop of UFA goalies this year I don't think any GM is jumping to make any sudden moves yet. Lots of cheaper options available to take a gamble on before circling back to the big fish.

Have you looked at his numbers?
Have you watched him play?
I'd rather have Comrie at 50% retained and that would probably cost a 5th rounder.

I'm not giving Helle up for a goalie that might break out.
He is not a good goaltender.
Levi went 5-2 in his first 7 pro games and had a .906 sv%.

He's a decently young journeyman level goalie with some team control that can step in and possibly run with it. 6'4 size is solid, athletic with good movement, handles the puck decently enough (better than Helle). He has had the talent at lower levels but has struggled on a very inconsistent team so there is a chance he can break out with us.

The fact that there is absolutely no way in hell we are getting Levi makes him the next best option from Buffalo if they end up the highest bidder.

Trade Dillon for futures (2nd +?), trade Stanley for a nominal return. Since Heinola would already be moved, we can hold on to Chisholm and pray that he makes it through waivers in October. RHDs are locked in. Not much to be done, I'd say. IMO, Dillon and Stanley should be dealt this summer almost regardless of what happens.

And no, I wouldn't offer that 2nd on top of Heinola and a pick swap. At that point, I'd rather see our current young guns take a bigger role.

#18, Heinola and 2024 2nd for #22 and Sanheim?

I think I'd still do that.

A journeyman level goalie with 46 NHL games?
He is an adequate backup at best and ALL the tenders handle the puck better than Helle.
We disagree.

Buffalo will be giving away one of UPL or Comrie.

Yeah he's more of a throw in than a central part of the deal. Provided Buffalo is interested and willing to make a deal then UPL should be included just so we have a body in net to replace Helle for now that still has some upside.

That's pretty much joruneyman status. He was basically ranked right around 30th in terms of all NHL goalies in most of his stats cats despite playing on a team that gives up quite a bit of shots. He played 33 games and yet still was the 33rd highest goalie in terms of shots against.

I think there is some upside there and given he isn't a central part of the deal as a throw in he's worth the pot. We aren't getting Levi as Buffalo has basically said he's untouchable so if the Sabres offer up the biggest pot, getting UPL just insures we have a body with upside on the roster. I'm far more interested in 13th overall, Krebs, Savoie and Ostlund as central pieces.

What about Helle to Buffalo for Buf 13OA, UPL and Krebs

Scheifele + Stanley to Boston for Swayman, Carlo + 2025 3rd Round

Buyout Wheeler

Sign Barbashev + Compher

If we can get 13th, Krebs and UPL that is a massively solid haul.

I think we may end up holding onto Scheif, just a feeling. But I think going after Sanheim is nice and likely won't cost a tonne honestly.

Wheeler buyout for sure.

Would love either of those players but not entirely sure we are on eithers radar as far as FA destinations go and I'm not a big fan of overpaying for guys like that.

The LA deal took forever to put together. Chevy doesn't do any trade quickly so I can't see him getting a phone call at our draft table for the biggest asset on the block and just going "hell yeah, let's do this".

Yeah not sure if Schiefele will stay around or not. I don't mind if he does. Maybe he wants the C to stay as he's been with us since the start and would give him some fuel and fire to play strong all season.

I would hope to get Barbashev or Compher (if Schiefele leaves) but like you said not overpay. Maybe like 4 x 3.6m for Barbashev.

Barbs is not gonna come cheap and we likely have to pay more of a premium on top of that so unlikely we land him. Compher might come cheaper but he's coming off a $3.5m contract now so doubt he's only looking for a $100k raise after posting his best season. I think he likely lands closer to the $5m range.

Peeke or Borgen?

Both RHD might be had at a reasonable price? Depends what the team is thinking and wanting to do with the current RHD and how happy they are.......RHD is a major area we need to improve.

Geekie RW?
