"It's that time of year where you're always going to be looking," the Jets general manager told NHL.com. "So, is this going to be our only move? Probably not."

That sure doesn't sound like the Cheveldayoff I'm used to!

Looks like there is more to come.

The spin on Newhook is hilarious... he's better for the Canadiens because he fits their age range - he's 'six months past his 23rd bday' while PLD is already 25!!! hahaha
So does the Tampa trade make it that Newhook was worth Colton, Fairbrother, and a 1st?

Sounds more like the Jets will put more focus now on Scheifele's situation than there's a trade imminent.
I agree. I just meant it sounds like they they are actually looking for a trade as opposed to a rumor 55 wants out.

Are those puffs of smoke I see In regards to the
⁵⁵goat herder⁵⁵ ?
That excites me.
You and me both.

What about a 3 way trade...

To Boston - Scheifele, Stanley, Harkins, Ruuta

To Pittsburgh - Hellebuyck, Heinola, Lysell, Grzelcyk

To Winnipeg - Ullmark, Pittsburgh 14OA, Pickering, Carlo

Not sure if this would work for all teams involved but helps each teams main need (Jets to get what they can for Helle and Scheifele, Bruins to shed some cap space, get their Center and get a bit younger, Pens to get their #1 goalie, younger and free up some cap space)

Scheifele is a R Centre with size who's scored more than 1 PPG for 7 straight seasons, averaging 35 goals per 82 games.

His AAV next season is 6.125M.

Lots of local pundits and fans want to run him out of town, but he should attract a lot of interest on the trade market. It's rare to find a C with that much consistent offense and goal-scoring, especially at that AAV.

Why are ppl trading heinola when it's Been reported that Dillon and stanley are being shopped?

Yeah to me it looks like they are planning to give him a real shot this year. That is consistient with Heinola's end of year comments on how he's going to work his ass off to stick.

To me it looks like the Jets are trying to open up space for him.

Agree on both. I don't want to spend too much on Sanheim, especially if it means we have to pay to move a Schmidt/Dillon/Pionk as well.

I'd say 15/35 doesn't sound too off. But that with say the 13th pick isn't a horrible return. Would be near the bottom of the other Sabres pieces for me, but not bad IMO.

I'd rather their 1st as the centrepiece than Mittlestadt.
I'd be happy with him if they are throwing in their second round pick.

Chisholm will never make it through waivers ... he either makes the club or the Jets lose him.
Stanley and Dillion are the two D rumors that are going around according to Pagnotta who broke the PLD trade.

Agree that Chisholm gets snapped up.

They may well run Heinola in the A yet again if they can't make space, but Dillon has value and maybe Capo sneaks through.

Still can't see Chevy trading Schmidt or buying him out and expect they're betting on Pionk to somehow be less of a train wreck after two brutal seasons. They may let DD walk I guess, but shouldn't -- he easily becomes this decade's Lee Stempniak if that happens.

Stanley's gone but they'll want something for him. I can see a player for player or lower round pick coming back.

Wheeler's gone -- just the announcement I reckon.

Even though Ullmark just won the Vezina, if we were in a deal such as this I'd rather get Swayman. Reason being he's younger, and you could either go long term right now if both parties agreed, or you could do a 1 or 2 year deal and he'd still be a RFA. Lines up much better with our new younger (soon to be) core. Ullmark has 2 years left, so next summer we're just right back in the same spot.

Also think we'd need to ship some D salary out (Schmidt/Pionk) either here or another trade, and just to get some room for Carlo.

But that would be amazing for us IMO.

What does Edmonton have to offer to get Helle?

Helle, Stanley for Edmonton 1st 2024, Skinner, Bouchard, McLeod, Campbell (50% retained)

Basically Winnipeg buys out Campbell in a year or two... unless he excels in a defensive system

Holloway and next year's 1st. We aren't getting Bouchard imo.

I'm V intrigued what Helle goes for in a trade.
Kuemper, Schneider, Ryan Miller (tdl) are a few other higher end goalies to be dealt over the years. But with the cap pressures and new deal at 31, will be interesting.

Fun fact
The 1st in the Ryan Miller trade was used to select Jack Roslovic
