I was looking at their depth players to see if any was a fit but I don't see anything that interests me.

Can see Desmith coming back to be a backup. We are going to need goalies.

Pittsburgh can find themselves a cheaper backup to take the 12 games Helle won't start.

`I think the Pens only want to give a futures only package. They are pot committed with a core in their mid 30's. Getting a top 3 goalie in the league goalie is really their last chance at another cup for Sid and the boys.

Agreed. I don't think it will work though as I think it's well past the best before date for them but if they will pay significant assets for him I'm in.

Was looking more at skaters but that is a good point. He's a solid backup.

Yeah but they have a lot of people still to sign. They also have a lot of rookies with bonuses still.

Highes and Mercer with about 1.4 million of bonuses and Meier at about 9 million eats into that quickly.

They would then need to sign another 6 to 7 roster players to fill our the team.
can't they push the bonuses to next years cap instead? and they have a bunch of elc's they can use to fill those spots, we could also retain a bit on helle to make it easier for them

That seems like an awfully low return. I hope Chevy can get more than that for Helle. But I guess it would be better than losing him for nothing at the end of the season.
I don't think Chevy will lock himself in by needing an extension to facilitate a trade, so he is a true rental. I think the Pens try to extend him July 1, but they won't do an extension as a trade condition as it would drive up his cost to much. They will trust Helly might be willing to sign once he hooks up with the NHL royalty in Pittsburg.

I feel like Pitts probably has the worst assets of the bunch to trade and a with Dubas in charge I'm not sure he will be the type to make a big move for a goalie. Feel like he's gonna go shopping in FA. NJ and Buffalo seem like our biggest clients.

Not interested in Buffalo if Levi isn't coming back.
Helle and a 2nd for Jarvis?

NJD was one of the teams that PLB specified Helle being interested in long-term. however, seems like recently at least that NJD wanted just the single year on him (shit can change ofc). they do not have a 1st this year. i don't see Mercer, Nemec, or L. Hughes being dealt.

i really don't see BUF as aggressive players. i think they'll offer 13th+ where the 13th is the best pieces, if WPG doesn't bite they go w/ Levi+low-term vet back-up (akin to us and mason in 17-18)

PIT i think will be the most aggressive. 14th+Pickering+cap+additional pick

the only teams drafting in the top-10 i can see being really interested is STL or DET. and DET would start w/ their 17th+ at least.

imo.

so close to 10 but no doubt vanecek would be coming back so they would end up with 7 million remaining to fill out the rest of their roster, don't see this season as the problem it's the following that would be hard to predict

They'd have to worry about how much they want you extend him for and fitting it under the cap. Maybe they do a rental situation but that significantly drops the return.

There are a lot of great pieces that would work for the Jets besides Levi; Krebs, Peterka, Ostlund, Savoie, Kulich would all be great pieces to get back.

rip the dream, guessing 1 of those mtl picks are going to tb so probably more then we would have been willing to spend
honestly not surprised at all COL is the team getting him. asides just the underlying stats, he'll probably cost what 50% less than Compher and is imo their is far more upside.

yeah, it would be hard and for them to extend him his number would need to come down, but teams make the cap work all the time so I think it would be difficult to do but not impossible

None of these players are in Jarvis' class. Quinn maybe?
No interest in Krebs at all.

hahaha

f***

Sorry, I knew you really wanted him. Hopefully we can find another good RW somewhere

Teams rarely trade young cost controlled impact players. We likely aren't getting a Jarvis, Quinn etc for Helle.

I'd be very happy with Savoie plus 13

Can't see them moving Levi yet.

I think something around UPL and Savoie or Krebs would be ideal.

Also can't see Jarvis being moved. I think we are likely overestimating our Helle return. It's rare for a goalie of his calibre to be traded but it's also pretty rare teams get a massive haul back in goalie trades. I'm thinking we get maybe the equivalent of a middling piece, and two 1sts at most.

I think we probably just need maybe another middle 6 option at RW. One of Vilardi/Perfetti and Ehlers is likely good enough to slot into the top 6. Then we have a plethora of options for the bottom 6.

Im not so sure on Krebs. He hasn't done much in the NHL and really doesn't bring anything to the table that we don't have on the wing in superior players in Conner and Ehelers.

Yeah I think top 6 we are good provided Scheifele is back. We need one more good middle 6 RW imo.

i had a feeling Colton was expendable. esp. w/ the eyssimont acquisition.

Eyssimont had some similar stats or strengths as Colton. obviously much cheaper than him too from TBL POV

and Colton slides in for Compher, at a way cheaper rate.

will be interesting to see how colton's numbers look and new contract this year.

Return

Buffalo can keep Krebs and his 49 points. He'd be a 3rd liner on the Jets at best.

No thanks to Krebs and no interest in UPL whatsoever.
A re-signed Helle should bring back Levi.

I think we are all vastly over estimating our Helle return here. Elite goalies are rarely ever traded and even when they are they rarely return anything significant.

Best we can hope for is a bidding war between those that can't lock someone up in FA and decide to circle back on us. The list is already pretty short with teams that can afford to bring him on and will have the green light to do so.

Didn't Schneider bring back a 9th?
