Toronto Maple Leafs are surprisingly underperforming

Call the Leafs 5th string goalie up.

Kallgren lost to SJ, Anaheim & Arizona and didn't put .900 goaltending up against any of those offensively-challenged teams.

1.) Samsonov
2.) Murray - Injured
3.) Woll - Injured
4.) Kallgren - can't put up a .900 against bottom feeders
5.) ?
If you watched any of those games you know he’s far from the issue.

They have too much talent for this to be prolonged so is this a case of Keefe "losing the room" or something?

I'm no Leafs fan but this current stretch is bizarre.

It's one goalie losing all these games, and he's not the starter.

Leafs are playing him against the weakest teams in the league to get him confidence, and he's blowing them all with a below .900 save percentage every game.

Don't get me wrong, the Leafs haven't been good... but they outplayed all the bottom feeders Kallgren is losing to.

They'll recover and be a good team

However this type of stuff and the media absolutely hammering the top talent isn't going to help the resign Matthews cause

The Leafs were the better team tonight?

lol

Only if you look at the numbers objectively. Did you miss Gibson's save on Tavares and Marner? Or Kallgren's weak goal on the NHL 97 wrap around?

The poor negotiation with those guys is a possible weakness there, but even there I'm skeptical. Fans are routinely assuming new signings are overpaid. Even there I doubt it would be a huge overpayment

As for the moves you mention after that, you're picking the worst of them. He's done what a lot of GMs who need to shake things up do. He's being aggressive. When it comes to these side moves he's done a lot of good ones too. Any GM who has a mandate to be aggressive will have flubs in there
Sure he’s done some smart little moves but the overall direction and big moves have all been horrible.

It’s like the apologists who think it was brilliant to let Hyman walk and pick up bunting to replace him. Picking up bunting in isolation is a smart move but thinking he replaces Hyman and all he brings to a hockey team is ridiculous.

He essentially runs the leafs like it’s gm mode in ea sports. Pick up the big point scorers and think that’s the recipe. Newsflash….it’s not.

They listened to Barry Trotz saying it would be intriguing to coach an original 6 team and are trying to force it

Didn’t the Ducks outplay the Leafs for large portions of this game?

Was that screenshot taken at the 1st intermission? Because that is not the game we just watched.

It was taken just now. Check yourself.

What do you see?

So you didn't watch the game. Got it lol.

I'm posting the objective numbers. I don't run MoneyPuck. Take it up with the stats sites.
