Is it not obvious? We underachieved horrifically last year and don't have our next 2 first roundersI have ZERO idea what the Leafs plan is. It's insane.
Are you saying they shouldn’t have signed the top UFA target, that addresses their #1 need, and costs them 0 assets?
We are gonna go in circles about this until the cows come home so gonna end it here.
I think there’s value in a 25 year old that teams believe are a top pairing guy and having a year to try and sign him.
I don’t think Raddysh and Byram’s situations and therefore value are comparable personally. When Byram is traded we will circle back and I’ll admit I was wrong if they only get a pick.
It's for a 5th round pick per the Leafs
Their plan is a parade. It's just when. It has been almost 60 years.I have ZERO idea what the Leafs plan is. It's insane.
One or the other would be fine but both makes me think this is a big gamble.Term is the worst part. The AAV is fine with me the rising cap. It’s more equivalent to 5.5-6 mil.
This is a great move and Raddysh will be a great player, even if he isn't quite the ~PPG defenseman of last year
Chayka is doing a good job thus far, the d-core's exiting ability was horrific and he brought in two guys who are elite at that
We can't rebuild, only option is to retool since Treliving and Dubas traded away all of our first and we have no prospects outside Cowan, the goalies, danford.
We still have 19M in cap space after this move.
I’d say he has 4 good years in the tank for sure. At least. The end of the contract will be bad, but that’s almost any long term UFA deal. Good news is the cap will be up 40 million by thenThis shows the Leafs are not going to rebuild and go for it ( as they should).
This contract will be bad by year 3 and brutal by year 5-6. But for 2 season you added a great top 4 D. Maybe a #2 for those 2 years. Him and reilly can maybe be a decent pairing.

Yes ofc not every team is willing to sign up for that. Which is why I think if Sabres are going to move him they’re gonna have to be quick.Depends when they trade him - if it's before the season (likely before Sept. if you want Byram to accept because then he's still eligible for an 8 year contract) - then he'll return some value.
But not every team in the league is going to sign up to pay his contract demands. You got some huge UFA agents who are going to raise the price of defenceman - who are eligible for extensions starting July 1st with Makar and Q. Hughes. Some huge defenceman to sign for next offseason in a rising cap and the higher the cap hit he expects, the less teams interested, and consequently, the lower the price

Yea, I love this for the player. And at 32 teams (probably 36 soon) theres more hope than ever for the mid-20s guys riding the iron lungWhat a lesson for some borderline NHL guys battling it out in the AHL.
At 25....this guy probably never thought he would sign a 68 million dollar deal. He was riding the bus in the AHL praying for an opportunity.
No matter what happens for this guy moving forward and for the Leafs.....he has shown that you should never give up on yourself.
Curious what they do with Rielly now. Do they keep him for some puck movement and give him zero PP time because hes terrible there... or do they clear more cap and get some picks or prospects?
1-3-1 is something he had to do because he was working with crap rosters. The Leafs have the horses to play the possesion game while not resorting to a 1-3-1I just knew what Jim Hillier was missing to run his 1-3-1 trap effectively was a soft, one-way PMD in his 30s with one good year of play. Chayka masterclass.

There is always risk. It doesn't stop teams from doing business. He has 140 career points and half them came last year. He turns 31 this season. The risk is obvious
