He had a statistical blip year. You don’t give term and dollars based on that, you pick one and have the player prove their worth. There was zero shock in how it went. Even if not injured, the likelihood of replicating the blip was smaller than the likelihood of not.David had significant back issues that got far worse once signing with the Leafs. I worked with David's father for 8 years as he conducted a lot of the training where we worked. He'd have been a fine player for the leafs without those injuries.
