A cardboard cutout probably gets us into the playoffs with our top end core. It’s all what happens once we get there for the goalies.
We almost missed in 2019-20 with Andersen giving .910 and the backup position sucking outside of Campbell for 6 starts

I think we need .910 goaltending or so from our starter to be a non-wildcard playoff team

Oh I’m not giving him credit, he’s scrambling to fill the crease and we’re taking two guys with huge warts, but at this stage I just want something with experience as a backup or 1A. This guy isn’t ideal by any means, he’s a head case and it could go sideaways quick in this market.

What is the alternative? We can assume that Shesterkin and Hele are untouchable by their teams. Gibson said no to us.

So we could sign a guy who had sub .900 sv% for us and couldn't stay healthy to a 5x5 deal, a guy coming off the worst playoff in modern history and an eye injury for big money, or trade for someone like Talbot who is 35 and who knows.

These deals make sense for what our options were. Just need 1 to find their game. Samsonov had big potential coming into the league. Murray B2B cup champs. Just need 1.

Im surprised, i dont know how we can afford it would a Kerfoot move

Any chance we can snag Comrie also? It's inevitable that Murray goes down, would be nice to have Comrie as the 3rd stringer. But this is definitely a luxury.
Wed lose him on opening day waivers IMO

Leafs still had a very good record getting sub .900 goaltending. Now we've replaced struggling old netminders with little track record of success with younger struggling goalies with better track records of success.
I’m not worried about making the playoffs too much. Our talent is too strong. Matthews will score 50+. Marner will get 100+ points. Nylander will consistently hit 65+. Tavares should still be 60+

I just want a goalie who doesn’t crumble under pressure. Our last like 6 goalies since reimer have been like that. Game 7 comes and you already know a back breaking softie is going in. These guys from their descriptions are no exception

I’m being facetious, but we can get by with so so tending in the regular season. Playoffs an entire different matter.

Not Qualifying Samsonov was a mistake because I believe he has trade value, so he qualify him and trade him.

Washington must be so focused on Kuemper that they needed the Samsonov cap space without the concern of getting a return.

Why not trade him to the Leafs for a 7th ?? Samsonov for free is too good to be true and you know what they say about that. Even so, worth the risk if cost is low and we have some money left to find some depth forwards.

He was Samson-off the past 2 years, so I really hope he is able to return to his 1st round form and go back to being Samson-on
