I would have liked to just open the roster spot rather than taking on Hunt. I'll admit I dont know much of anything about Hunt.
Was he the guy who drilled Pastrnak and then kicked the shit out of Nosek after he stepped in to defend him a couple of weeks ago?

Hunt had some good chemistry with Brayden Point on the 15-16 Moose Jaw Warriors.

This could be the first domino for something BIG.

Its a nothing deal really...... Malgin was given a opportunity and other guys stepped up above him. Dubas probably just decided to give him another chance to another team and get something in return instead of just waving him. Hunt will probably be put down in the AHL tho.....who knows...

I have no idea what kind of player Hunt is......does he kill penalties?
No not really 4th line kind of guy who's physical, not necessarily a fighter but doesn't back down, strong on the puck and has an excellent first stride, he was close to a PPG player in the W, but hasn't been able to bring that to the pros. Interesting to note even with all the points he put up he still went undrafted.

All good, Malgin seemed to bring little to the Leafs. Let's hope Hunt will fit in better.

Dont care how much I get roasted but a physical guy that finishes every check and plays responsibly defense, can skate and drop the gloves when really needed at 6'0 200lbs is a bonus as we do not have hardly any that makes opponents pay the price in corners or carrying the puck. I for one am happy to finally get some guys of this ilk that can play decent and be nasty to play against. The big dollar guys have to find a way to procuce the offense in post season vs getting shut down continually that is the reason they get paid same reason we get 1st round exits

I just find it odd that Malgin is somehow held up as being representative of the Dubas project, while Dryden Hunt is some off brand non Dubas type meant to appease a certain caricatured part of the fanbase. Both guys are Dubas guys and shouldn’t really be too symbolic of anything beyond being different flavours but otherwise being pretty low in the lineup players.

Billy Beane, I mean Kyle Dubas, must have seen something in the analytics that shows Hunt is a better fit. Moneyball!
For 4th line you don’t need analytics to know he’s a better fit. In the playoffs I think he will only play if ZAR is hurt. I think they are hoping their 4th line wingers for the playoffs are ZAR and Anderson.

Even they may lose their spots to Robertson and Knies... and that is before adding anyone.

It seems like less and less people like Hunt nowadays. Most are just confused as to what Hunt is and whether he belongs in the lineup.
Neither Clifford or Simmonds can play at the NHL level anymore. Hunt fills that role and will likely dress "when necessary"

I suspect these boards have spent an exponentially longer time debating and thinking about Malgin than the entire Leafs front office has lol

I think so too. Myself included at times. Readily admit it. But if Dubas can let the guy go, so can we all.
