Confirmed with Link: [TOR/CBJ] TOR acquire Riley Nash for Conditional. 7th Pick in 2022

I can still remember losing to Boston in a Game 7 without Bozak to win face-offs or shut the opposition down. All we had were one-way centers that embarrassed the team. If he can cause time to stand still, I'm all for it, because if we're desperate for a goal, I can think of a few other players on the team I'd gladly give more ice-time to.
Bozak isnt even a good two way C lol

Why is Nash any different than Andersen in this regard? You increased the cap limit by $5M when Andersen goes on LTIR but not for Nash when moved to LTIR, that's where I'm missing something.

I did the same thing for Freddy as I did for Riley. When Freddy went on LTIR, I increased the cap limit by $5m (Freddy's cap hit). When I put Riley on LTIR, I increased the cap limit by $2.75m (Riley's cap hit).

Also, for what it's worth, I'm think you don't get the full value of those contracts, it must be a prorated portion of what's left of those salaries.

I was leaving out pro rata for simplicity, but it doesn't change much. Riley's AAV is $2.75m at the start of the season, and it's still $2.75m at the trade deadline. The real inaccuracy is not in what the players' cap hit is, it's that both the Leafs Cap expenditure and Cap limit were actually more than $81.5m today. But rest assured that the cap expenditure was very close to the cap limit, so everything is still effectively the same.

Will they announce any other trades today? I just want to go to sleep in peace, no anticipation. I get nightmares of bad trades.

Yeah I didn't read carefully enough, you raised the limit in the next calc after putting Nash on LTIR. That makes sense to me now. It's not same as if we had just him on LTIR at the beginning of the season but were spending $2.75M below cap: in that scenario if we had some way of spending to the new cap limit including his salary the space would be available but there's no way to do that now. That trick works only in the offseason when we can temporarily spend more than the cap. Excellent explanation, wish I had thought of it. Have fun.

I'm impressed and amazed that the Leafs were able to pull this off under the salary cap, but I don't have the foggiest of how they did it.

I will be interested to see the full details of the roster transactions when they come out.

Other teams could have done this, and I think Leafs' management just outworked their divisional opponents in coming up with this gambit.

OK, this is ridiculous. I'm 7 years older than O'Neill and in 10 times better shape than him and he was a pro athlete. How could he have fallen off that fast? He was still in the league 15 years ago, I've never been in more than a beer league and I'd be comfortable going head to head against him on the ice right now. WTF? Seems like a really good guy and someone I'd love to hang out with so it feels slimy saying this but...damn.

Cardiac arrest just waiting to happen.

Could be the next double cheeseburger...........

The transactions reported in the media were these (first list of 1-4): Confirmed with Link: - [TOR/CBJ] TOR acquire Riley Nash for Conditional. 7th Pick in 2022

I thought you couldn't trade for an injured player ?

sure you can. The leafs traded for Clark’son. Arizona has traded for LTIR players
Forever.

heck pronger has been working for the league head office and was still getting traded.

you just can’t sell a team an injured player and that don’t know about it

Quickly! Take picture from the laptop screen!!!

So basically this is a wash for us cap wise because he is going to be out.... so free depth forward for the playoffs.

but if we but Freddie on retro LTIR. If he makes 43k a day. Do we not get to use that cap space?

So like 1.25 million extra? Or am I way off

I think we finally know why Lehtonen was effectively given away, and it also aligns with what one insider said (can't remember who) about a week ago saying the Leafs have a deal in place they know they can pull off but waiting to pull trigger.

they likely would’ve waited to announce both trades at once if they were making two trades in a day, so you’re fine to sleep

There are four hundred pound people who literally drink a few glasses of water a day, and eat maybe some lettuce and tomatoes, no salad dressing and stay obese.

Then there are people like my wife who can eat more than a football team and stay in perfect, fitness model shape.

she loves to eat sure, but she doesn't show off. But she could eat two large pizza's by herself, and you could say, doesn't look one ounce heavier, still a perfectly flat stomach

So the lid is still on the box.
