Confirmed with Link: [TOR/CBJ] TOR acquire Riley Nash for Conditional. 7th Pick in 2022

Someone here hit the nail on the head. I was asked to say nothing on the subject. Yes, Fred, could be done, till the playoffs. Dubas takes criticism around here, and I have never spoken to the guy.

But Shanny is not dumb at all, he is sticking with this young man.

I think he is pretty brilliant.

I am still pinching myself when I see Campbell, Muzzin, Brodie and Muzzin playing for us.

What did we give up? I don't want to insult the talent and assets going the other way.

This young man, probably thinks this job 20 hours a day.

Its showing. Jason Spezza? U think he likes Keefe and Dubas. He is playing like a 3.5 million dollar player.

Spezza and Muzzin love the city, the crest, their teammates. But both these guys are irreplaceable type guys.

Spezza has the best slap shot in a Leaf uniform since Rick Vaive, and commands the dot.

Hyman, is the best I have ever seen at what he does, its like he has almost invented a myriad of talents.

Bob Gainey was called the best hockey player, in the world, by Anatoli Tarasov, the architect of Soviet hockey.

Hyman, has gone past Gainey.

I posit, that Hyman is twice the hockey player, in terms of NHL effectiveness than Nylander, and I appreciate William's zone exits and zone entries.

Nice problem to have, but what does this guy sign for? Hyman?

He does something that teammates just love.

He goes into the offensive zone and by all means, and by all costs, he doesn't let the opposition, bring it out.

I almost feel sorry for our opponents, when Zach is out there. No arrogance, total humility, but he just breaks the back of opponents. Its clinical what he does.

I keep expecting opponents to figure out a way to defend, his defence. But like myself, I don't think they have ever seen anything like this guy.

A great goalie and a great forward who lets everyone rest and not have to chase the breakouts?

Those two guys are worth their weight in bitcoins.

We have two right now.

Campbell and Hyman.

Life gives some interesting parallels. Look at the 1967, Leaf Cup team. Look at this team.

Notice any patterns? I think Dubas has.

Thornton, Spezza, Simmonds? Supposedly, past it? Keefe and Dubas, have these guys thinking age is just a number.

Just catching up. So Nash is hurt, takes no cap and will be healthy by the playoffs?

Something is defo coming sire.
Thank you! I KNEW IT! This is so amazing what we are capable of doing right now sezire!!! Our whole organizatino is moving thangs and doing thangs for real. I'm excited for these next two three days! I'm SO EXCITED!

Must drink-a-lot-records during these here. With the plantation 69% rum. OFTD. Definitely sire.

So, does this make trading Freddy easier? That seems to be the play no?

To a team already deep in LTIR. Flip him and a pick for a worse pick.

Free up his entire cap hit and Fred only costs 300k in real cash.

the more time you were injured the more salary the team can use for relief. If a guy was on injury for a month you can only gain the month's salary as relief.

You only get cap relief for the days that the player is on the ltir, yes. But it’s not like money that is being put into your bank account each day they are on ltir that you can use later. It’s more like a debt that is forgiven each day.

So with Andersen on LTIR, each day we can be forgiven for $5m worth of AAV that we are exceeding the cap. But when he comes off, we just don’t get the daily credit anymore.

So, what (if anything) can we add contract wise right now? I assume almost nothing.

If I recall correctly from pre trade numbers, roughly 1.8m in "face value" cap hit, which translates into 3.6m in "face value" cap hit with 50% retention, 7.2m in face value cap hit with 50% retention twice

I think we have roughly $1.5m in AAV we can add. Capfriendly’s calculations are out of whack right now until they confirm exactly where Leafs got their ACSL. A reporter tweeted that Leafs were at around $1.5m in space before the trade so we should still be around there.

Interesting. Hopefully CF updates soon.

Hmm. Well, I didn't want to create a new thread. Not saying there are too many threads here. But, this subject of Riley seem sto have a lot of great posters speculating that this is preparation for further moves, which invited comments outside of Riley Nash.

Crazy times. Riley Nash, last I observed was a pretty determined, defensive hockey player. Traded for a seventh?

Lol, does our Super Swedish scout, Bergman go along with the trade?

But again to answer your query, I might have swerved here bro.

1.5 might be right as well. Somewhere in there. Either way enough to be players.

Laughton/Iaffalo + Kulikov please

Maple Leafs' Keefe: 'No concern' Frederik Andersen is done for season

Also Freddy was put on LTIR retroactively. The only reason to do it retroactively is if you want to activate them earlier than the mandatory LTIR timeframe.

He is not done for the season.

Unless, I'm missing something I don't agree. I mean, he may not be done for the season, but retroactive LTIR doesn't seem like any kind of indicator they expect him back soon. If you're putting him on LTIR, you'd set it back to as far back as you can to get maximum benefit, not just because of mandatory time frame.

It’s definitely nice to see the mature result. Hard to say this isn’t exactly a manifestation of Dubes and Keefe’s vision.

I would be surprised if Freddie comes back before the season ends. The retroactive part of putting him on LTIR could simply be a false flag. Dubas would lose any leverage he had if other GM’s knew for sure he was gone for the season. Now they may think it, but they wont know for sure - which may allow him to get a backup at a slightly better price.
