Hmmm. With what Toronto has vs have lacked, Carlo + Laughton are good adds. Goaltending remains insanely suspect. But Edmonton didnt address theirs either, and I’d be a hypocrite if I haven’t said 100x that goaltending is the most lottery ticket position in the game.

If the team can get to the playoffs with an average goalie, the goalie is NHL caliber at minimum and can get hot behind a healthy team playing well. If the team needs a goalie whose going to steal them 20+ points to make the post season in the first place, it doesn’t likely matter - the goalie likely can’t elevate their game much higher than it already is, and it’s way harder for an 18 man roster to get hot and suddenly play Cup winning hockey all the way to a championship.

In other words, a top 10 roster with a #25 goalie can reasonably believe in themselves to play their ass off supporting that goalie and the goalie to get hot and have a good chance at winning. A #25 roster with a top 10 goalie is only making rhe playoffs because the goalie masked the fact that they’re the 25th team in the league. The goalie doesn’t have much room to go up and it’s a lot less likely a #25 roster is going to elevate him to get a Cup.

What are you talking about? Toronto have had the best goaltending as a duo in the NHL this season

My favorite thing is when a player gets traded and every fan of the traded players team proceeds to say how about that player is. Boston fans are probably right though
His regression has been sad to watch as a Bruins fan.

He's like 1 or 2 concussions away from it being bad. Like, he's genuinely taken steps back every year.

If only he'd use his size for snarl. He says away from hits and won't initiate either which is fustrating. But I wish him well. Great guy.

Minten traded? Watch the Leafs fan that were claiming him to be a lock 1st liner now say that he was at most a good 3rd liner
no one claimed he was that man, stop being deluded by leaf hate

we all said he was looking to b a good middle six mostly 3C

Toronto got the steady right-handed defenseman they needed. Yes, the price is high, but at some point you have to go for it and I think this Leafs team has the best chance of any in the last several years to go deep, especially with the way Berube has them playing. Good on Treliving for making a move.

I like Carlo but he's not a difference maker. Will get a ton of ice time but there's no offense there for sure. This should help Toronto defensively but he has had a rough season (but who hasn't on the B's with the exception of Pastrnak and maybe Geekie). I do think a decent prospect and a 1st is an overpay but that's the price of doing business this year.

I take it you haven't watched a single game this year

This is the best and most stable goaltending we've had since Ed Belfour lmao

Holy f***, Toronto just got taken to the bank at gunpoint. Minton and a first for a number 6D man.

Wowwwwww
Yeah not gonna lie, unless Carlo has some kind of revelation after this trade he is not even close to the player he was 2 or 3 years ago. He's essentially average defensively and downright useless offensively/as a puck mover. He's physical, but you could have had Luke Schenn a very similar type of D for a 2nd and 4th (which was also a big overpay for a #6/7D).

Stolarz is literally a top 3 goalie in the NHL this season

It's our biggest strength
