I'd be calling for his head if he was the sens GM.

Ostapchuk will top out as a fourth line center imo and fans will only get angrier at him once they realize it.

I can see how Grier might see some upside to Ostapchuk but it doesn't make sense trading away the established, young, 2nd line player for him.

Good 3Cs aren't THAT hard to come by in free agency/trade, plus they got a guy like Bystedt who could develop into that type of player too.

The difference between Dorion and staios and just about everything both of them did (so far) is night and day.
It’s so crazy. From total incompetence/laughing stock/worst of all time to total competence.
It can’t be overstated how terrible Pierre Dorion was at his job.

If it takes Staios making killer moves to prove this point, then I'm all for overstatement

I like the trade for both teams. He was a good hockey trade. I hope Fabio works out for us.

Personally I never Ostapchuk potential the way the rest of this board did and I may have missed it, but I didn't see him being anything more than a fourth liner. That was okay because we need fourth liners anyways but I didn't see much of a ceiling with him. Maybe in a different organization he'll be giving the room to spread his wings. It wasn't going to happen here based on the sample size that we seen from so was better for us to experiment and see what else was out there. This could totally blow up in our face but hey it won't be the first time and it won't be the last time. Some players just are giving a better opportunity elsewhere and make the most of it. He was not showing anything that warranted him to move up in the lineup or to justify holding his spot on the lineup.

Grier is going to look smart with this deal and it should be a great trade for both teams in a perfect world.

Ostapchuk is criminally underrated here.

I’m excited for Zetterlund but let’s be real Ostapchuk is a great young player.

It was a hockey trade and Sens could afford to deal a center and SJ was looking to add one.

They traded an established young 20+ goal scorer RFA, who has good intangibles and plays responsible defence, for a guy whose ceiling is a reliable bottom six center that doesn't bring much offence.

Even if Ostapchuk was 25 and already at his ceiling, he still wouldn't be worth Zetterlund.

They traded the boat for the box hoping it contains a canoe.

So Ostapchuk is going to be very good player for SJ without having played for them and scoring just 4 points for us in 40 games and is unknown really at 21. But an established 20 goal guy for couple seasons we don't know yet?
