It is interesting that Carolina still owns our 2nd round pick from the TDA trade, and they still have TDA! It is almost like CF said "hey Carolina can you take all these picks off my hands, but you can also keep TDA"......

Speaking of Carolina, it will be interesting to see how they manage the 3 key UFAs next year (TT, Pesce and Skjei). They will all be 28/29. My guess is they either trade them or use them for a SC run and then move on; rather than pay them mega dollars until they are almost 40. Quite the opposite of the Flyers philosophy, who believe it is their duty to supplement the Social Security system.

They just signed Aho until he's almost 35. The only Flyers player signed till until his late 30s is Couturier.

Actually he was decent when paired with Seeler in a sheltered role.
The problem in Philly was Fletcher had a fantasy that he was a top 4 D-man who could be given real minutes - and he was exposed.

Which is why you have to be careful with metrics, there's a group of players who are fine in limited roles (Gudas is a perfect example) who can't handle tougher matchups on a regular basis. Smart teams know that and use them correctly, which inflates their metrics (reason you should check strength of competition and O-zone starts). Dumb teams ignore that and can't figure out why the player looks so bad in a bigger role.

Question is was this Chuckie's opinion or did the pro scouts misjudge TDA?

That answer is obvious. Fletcher doesn't have an eye for anything other than pierogis and Minnesota affiliates.

And Sanheim, Atkinson, Ellis
Sanheim is starting a 8 year deal at age 27, like Aho will do next year. So for both of them the final year on their contracts will be their 34 year old season.

The final contract year for Atkinson and Ellis will be their 35 year old seasons, but of course Ellis won't ever play again.

I also forgot that Carolina have Staal starting a 4 year deal at age 35, and Burns at age 38 with 2 years left. So both of them will be older when their deals end, than Couturier will be when his finishes.

Reactions: Surrounded By Ahos

Look at how heavily he is downplaying what happened even though we know it was clearly bad. This is why you cannot trust a lack of public critique from players of coaches as any indication.

I wish TDA would just let it all out, but we all know players aren't allowed to speak negatively about coaches to the media or they'll be blacklisted.
Who cares what TDA has to say, when a player refuses to accept coaching, his opinion is worthless.
This wasn't Ghost being buried by AV, Torts gave TDA every chance to nail down a top 4 job and PP1 QB.
TDA just kept making the same stupid mistakes all season - that's on the player.

Didn't accept coaching? What coaching? Tortorella doesn't coach.

So just to confirm, it only matters when players speak positively about Torts.

What about when a coach refuses to talk to players especially after benching? Or takes games off to watch upstairs?

Why is a coach left off the hook when he can't accomplish basic coaching duties?
