Tom Wilson, 20 goals and counting

You wanna place an avatar bet that Wilson scores 20 next season? Be a man.

I don't necessarily think 20 goals is out of the question, though it's probably on the high side for him.

He's scoring at a 31 goal rate this season. I'll happily make an avatar bet with you if you want to bet whether or not he'll score 30 next season.

That’s not what you’ve been arguing. Like I said if you think Wilson’s 20-goal season is a “fluke” (your words) then man up.

Here’s a hint, we both know YOU KNOW BETTER.

No, Ive been arguing his sh% is a fluke.

His sh% is whats leading him to score at a 30-goal rate (ie, 20 goals in 52 games).

Same thing that made Karlssson's 43 goal season a fluke.

If you'd like to 'man up' and bet that he'll score the same rate next season, then sure. Let's bet. 30 goals?

EDIT: And like, 4 of my 5 posts in this thread specifically call out sh%. So the idea that 'that's not what I've been arguing' is nonsense.

Hertl is pretty much the best all-round forward on the second best team in the league. Wilson is good. He's not that good.
Sharks gonna win even 1 series this year? Anybody wanna put a large sum of their own money on the Sharks winning a single Playoff Series?

I cannot find any record of Joe Thornton fighting Ryan Reaves.
Tom Wilson fought Ryan Reaves multiple times. You seemed to be perpetuating the argument that Wilson doesn’t fight BIG TOUGH GUYS because Thornton isn’t TOUGH. Stop being dense, actually based on your posts maybe your ignorance isn’t assumed.

The only point that I am debating is that fighting Joe Thornton means you are willing to fight the toughest of players, as if Joe Thornton is the toughest of players.

Again Tom Wilson has fought multiple of the toughest guys in the league, that isn’t debatable. The suggestion that Wilson picks smaller partners is as ignorant your posts are irrelevant.

Tom Wilson isn't picking on weaker opponents and it's not fear stopping him from certain fights. The problem I have with Wilson is the way he picks and chooses fights, it's always on his grounds. He'll chase a guy for throwing a big hit on his teammate, but ignores requests if it's from a hit that he threw. I really hate this type of mentality of only fighting when you're in the mood.

I always get the impression from Wilson that he thinks he's a big shot and everyone needs to get in line on their knees if they want an audience with him. He disappeared in the game after Gudbranson challenged him earlier this weak, but not out of fear. He wanted to de-escalate the situation, because he wasn't in the mood for a big fight and didn't think it was worth being targeted. Since the playoffs his ego has been greatly inflated to the point where he thinks he can goon it up, but is too good of a player to have to deal with lower class goons.

Congrats to Tom Wilson. Now he's in the same company as his former team mate and current Oiler great Alex Chiasson.
I wonder which one of the two of these players had a bigger impact on winning a Cup and which one is helping a lost cause try to win the Draft Lottery. Around here we let players like Alex Chiasson walk while players like Wilson parade.

In this new age, progressive NHL a grumpy Joe Thornton is probably one of the tougher players in the league.
Never underestimate old man anger...he's sick and tired of people pulling on his beard and he's not gonna take it anymore.
P.S. Congrats Tom! Get to 25 this year and really shut up the haters!

If Wilson engaged in every fight he’s offered he’d never play and certainly wouldn’t have scored 20. In today’s NHL that’s what fighting has become.

With officiating what it is, if Wilson ever did what you’re suggesting (staged fights) he’d ABSOLUTELY be walking away with an extra penalty (for instigating or roughing, check his ledger if Wilson gets pulled down from behind by Gudbranson, Wilson gets a Roughing).

"Since the playoffs his ego has been greatly inflated..."

How the heck would you even know this? Talk to him on a regular basis? Insider knowledge? From the outside, as a Caps fan, with as much observation as I've ever placed Tom Wilson under (mostly interviews and social media), he's been acting the exact same way he always has.

As far as "disappearing" after being challenged, that was definitely a team vanishing act. Not a Tom Wilson vanishing act. As tends to happen when you get touched for three goals in... two minutes? Some people...
