If you asked every GM in the league I can almost guarantee they'd take Tom Wilson over Hertl. Just telling you.
And your proof is that... you say so?

A flying elbow to the head being his go to move should mean that the League will have an answer for him via suspension.Nope. He was a big part of the Cup win.
Teams simply have no answer for him.
Weak hitting isn't much important. Big ones change the game and screw up opponent's game plan execution by playing "hot potato" or by trying to respond.I'm a huge Wilson fan and defend him all the time, but come on... Teravainen or Hertl are a much better choice.
You're talking about two ~ppg players or a 55pt (pace) player. Hitting is not THAT important anymore.
He’d probably have another 5 or so if Kuzy decided to play hockey more than a couple games a month.
Gee who could've thought such a thing was possible? So you're saying he doesn't need to play like a reckless idiot to stay in the league...
So what is it?Really? Legendary enforcer Joe Thornton?? And he survived?
I don't know if they'd take him over Hertl, but the NHL Programs on Sirius XM have had this discussion a lot and basically the guys there have said that from what they've heard every GM in the league is now looking for the next Tom Wilson, there's just one problem, he's not a common player. If you asked every GM in the league I can almost guarantee they'd take Tom Wilson over Hertl. Just telling you.
Do you listen to NHL podcasts with GM's and ex GM's on them? Please tell me how much Tomas Hertl comes up and how other teams want a player like that versus how much Tom Wilson comes up in conversations. It's all there if you want to see for yourself.
I hate Tom Wilson and I'd take him over Hertl without any hesitation. And your proof is that... you say so?
Oh I have no doubt he will make a few hits... but unless he can take people out of the game - which he can't do because if he does it again the NHL is going to make him sit a long long time.... then he's a 20-25 goal power winger... which is nice.. but lets not get ahead of ourselves. This is objectively incorrect and you'll see it once more in the playoffs this year.
But I thought Hfboards said he was a no-talent 4th line goon?

No need to make it often. One huge hit and your Hertl doesn't try to deke through the players anymore for whole series. You know what else helps change the game? Contributing to goals. Im going to go ahead and say the extra 20-30pts Hertl/TT helps produce happen more than massive game changing hits that Wilson delivers on rare occasions.
Yeah. People tend to get upset when guys injure other guys with dirty hits.I’d take 4 Tom Wilson’s on my team. Always brings the entertainment and salt.
