Wonder how many suspensions it’s going to take before Tkachump learns a lesson?
Oh he won't.

Look, I have MS and therefore I also have a cane. I'm aware of my surroundings and am also aware of the general makeup of a human face. I could 100% hook an individual in the eye with my cane from behind because I am aware of the physics and movements that would be required. I'm pretty sure most NHLers would be nearly as familiarized with the physical construction of goalie masks as I am with faces.Yes because he can see through Quick's head, see where his mask is located so he can spear him in the eye.
Hollywood.
To poke him in the eye he would have had to rip off his mask, or start jamming the butt end of his stick in there. This was him probably tapping his cage to irritate him. Guys get hit harder in the boards and we don’t say “he was trying to break all the bones in his body”. Guys eyes are more at risk in fistfights.
It’s also not unreasonable to assume that yes, Tkachuk wanted to mess with Quick by tapping his cage, which should be a penalty, but also that there was no serious intent to actually destroy Quicks eyeball, since Quick is wearing a face shield that protects his face and eyes. It’s also not unreasonable to assume that Quick turned it into a Oscar worthy performance.
You are definitely ride or die on this. Yes, victim blaming is the way to go after denying reality failed. There would be no discussion about this insignificant event of a stick hitting a cage if Quick didn’t flop his ass off. Most players would brush this aside. The theatrics will come back to bite Quick next time Tkachuk sees him.
Fliptiflop Quick
I like to Quick, Flop, Quickity Quick and you can’t stop the Flop
Huh, wonder what all the dissenting people have in common?Hollywood.
The first contact was Tkachuk trying to deflect the shot coming in.
that was the most emotion i've seen out of kopitar in a decade tbhI hope, for sake of the pride of any LA Kings players, that these clips simply omit the brawl that ensued or the fights they forced Tkachuk into later in the game.
Then what exactly was Tkachuk doing? At best, it's negligence.Stupid? Yes.
Intentional? Don't think Tkachuk meant to poke him in the eye, but still stupid and should be at least 10 games.
He tried to get around the face protection. He doesn't get points for failing. To poke him in the eye he would have had to rip off his mask, or start jamming the butt end of his stick in there. Yeah, in the dying seconds of a game you are losing by a goal, he’s more worried about whacking Quick in the face. He was still playing hockey then, the BS move came right after the whistle.Let me ask you something, when was the last time you saw a guy try and deflect a shot moving his stick back and forth [ left to right], making direct contact with the mask, instead of an up and down motion. He knew exactly what he was doing both times.
