I.E.
VERY light punishments for intentional stick fouls between this and Kuznetsov’s egregious penalty earlier this season too

Gonna be a bad look and some serious liability coming to roost when someone gets hurt with these cowardly precedents.

Should have been 5. And it would have been more if Quick sustained a bad injury. That’s what annoys people. It’s never about how dangerous and intentional it is, it’s about the result. That’s stupid.

No longer my circus and no longer my monkey but 2 games seems about right. I doubt he was trying to gauge an eye out but pretty clearly he means to stick Quick in the mask.

I don’t actually see what the difference is.

Guys who slam other players’ heads into the boards don’t want to concuss them either.

None of these guys are cartoon villains.

The problem is stickwork to the face is always dangerous and deliberately doing to a goalie is really playing with fire.

Tkachuk doesn’t have great control of his stick, that easily could have gone a lot worse and then this is a different conversation.

But it would have started with the same dumb decision by MT. And he’s made very similar dumb decisions about poking his stick in guys faces before.

He deserves a bunch of games for this because he needs to learn to stop doing this. That’s the point of these punishments, deterrence.

You cant hit the eye through a goalie mask with the toe of your stick. Credit to Quicks constant flop-mode.

If the stick dont fit, you must acquit!

He definitely sold it, been watching Quick for over a decade.

However Tkachuk purposely shoved his stick in his face to get a reaction out of quick, and it's pretty dangerous to do that on it's own.

Suspension is warranted.

I’d be wary of assuming Tkachuk’s intentions. A lot of people in this thread are saying “I’m sure he didn’t mean to…” but Tkachuk doesn’t deserve the benefit of the doubt here.

I expected him to just get slapped with a fine, so two games is a pleasant surprise. It seems about right. I doubt that Tkachuk was trying to put his stick through Quick's mask, but trying to tap it is still serious and needs to be discouraged.

The standard for a suspension is so low. I recall in the 90s you heard of suspensions of 10-15 games and it was common. Now if it's 2 games it's considered a big deal.

It is not right. Should be at least 5. And he should be told any similar incident the suspension starts at 20 games.

Isn't there a thing where repeat offender status expires? Something like if he goes clean for 50 games then they aren't allowed to use this incident as a reason for longer suspensions if it happens again ( edit: or was it a full year or a bit more? But still)

Total dick move by a top end dick. Deserved more games, but that’s how he feels about helping his team. Enjoy it FLA.
