Title of this thread should be updated to present the facts: “Tkachuk taps Quicks face mask, and everyone reacts to a hypothetical scenario where they imagine that his eye got poked out”
Many, many, many hits to the head in his career.I remember them interviewing Papa Tkachuk the last Florida vs Ottawa game and he was saying how proud he was of both sons because of how good of a person they are. I wonder if he selectively edits out this type of stuff from his memories.
Ever been poked in the eye? With anything less dangerous than a hockey stick? I’m a Ducks fan who takes joy in Quick having meltdowns and your take is about as bad as it could possibly be here. It’s also not unreasonable to assume that yes, Tkachuk wanted to mess with Quick by tapping his cage, which should be a penalty, but also that there was no serious intent to actually destroy Quicks eyeball, since Quick is wearing a face shield that protects his face and eyes. It’s also not unreasonable to assume that Quick turned it into a Oscar worthy performance.
It’s one thing for this to ACCIDENTALLY happen during the course of a play or even during a scrum, but to intentionally move your stick towards an opponents eyes or facial area… it’s stupidity and carelessness in its highest form. The NHL needs to send a message on this play. Then you tack on his history of dirty plays, sometimes claimed as “accidental”, and disregard for his peers… he deserves 10+ games for this.Title of this thread should be updated to present the facts: “Tkachuk taps Quicks face mask, and everyone reacts to a hypothetical scenario where they imagine that his eye got poked out”
Definitely deserves something, it was a stupid move. Quick still sold it, though.
I’m pretty sure anything entering the interior of your goalie mask is going to cause panic; see the photo above? That’s pretty damning.
Looks more like a grasp for something to blame Quick for, though. Bad look. “Yeah uh that was bad but…”

I have no problem with an initial response, it's afterwards acting like his eyeball was hanging out of his socket that was the sell job. I have no problem saying Tkachuk is 100% at fault for what happened and should face the consequences, but that doesn't mean Quick didn't try to sell it to the refs.
i've had a few cutoff disks explode in my face before and little shards blast everywhere, including under your safety glasses and dude, it's f***in panic until you figure out that you're OK. it's natural when it comes to your eyesI have no problem with an initial response, it's afterwards acting like his eyeball was hanging out of his socket that was the sell job. When?Quick is known as a diver, but not this time.
His eye looked pretty red in the time after the poke when his helmet was off.Devils advocate here but did his stick actually hit his eye? Looks like the cage did it’s job and protected his face but IdK?
Ahhh, here comes the whataboutism.Quick defended Brendan Lemieux after Lemieux bit a Tkachuk hand last year. Now, Quick gets a poke and we are supposed to believe that it's the end of the world. Grow up dude.
Let me jam a stick into your face and see how you "deal with it."haha dude f*** off
I'll say it again, Tkachuk did something he shouldn't have done and Quick sold the shit out of it. Deal with it.

Wow you're tough! As a goalie, been there done that.
