He's not trying to injure Quick. If he was trying to injure him there are about a million better ways to do that. It's a dirty little play but hes clearly just trying to agitate and get under Quicks skin. He uses zero force what so ever, wasnt even looking at where he put his stick, just wanted it to get in Quick's grill. However, since it did get Quick in the eye, I would give him a game to try to deter it from happening again.
Okay let me do it to you; I'll be sure not to "injure" you.

The Stanley Cup
Do people really not think the stick blade went through the cage? There's a reason the top of the toe of Tkachuk's blade isn't visible here:

Title of this thread should be updated to present the facts: “Tkachuk taps Quicks face mask, and everyone reacts to a hypothetical scenario where they imagine that his eye got poked out”
He got his stick in there it wasnt a tap on the mask. Right before that he hit him in the head with his stick so you can call that one a little tap. A little before that Bennett took a run at Quick. Tkachuk hit him in the head on the goal that was disallowed. It was a theme all night.
Im all for playing tough but this play he did cross the line when he intentionally turned his stick to get a little poke in there. No need to lie and troll.

Or how about "Ignorant homers don't realize you're still responsible for your stick getting into the mask even when you're trying just to tap to get under the goalie's skin."

I remember them interviewing Papa Tkachuk the last Florida vs Ottawa game and he was saying how proud he was of both sons because of how good of a person they are. I wonder if he selectively edits out this type of stuff from his memories.

You cant hit the eye through a goalie mask with the toe of your stick. Credit to Quicks constant flop-mode.

If the stick dont fit, you must acquit!

Oh really? Cause as someone who's played the position for over a decade, you couldn't be more wrong.

Masks are all different how they sit on the head, but you can absolutely get a stick in the eye.

As punishment, Tkachuk should be forced to keep that mouth guard, properly placed, in his mouth for the rest of the season. Meals and non game days included.
jesus man, ever heard of cruel and unusual punishment?

When guys like Tkachuk, Marchand etc... are literally hardwired to do things like this over and over, really makes you wonder what's happening in their heads. Not normal behaviour.

The thing is that they play close to the line and are both awesome hockey players overall but when they cross the line, which is far too often it really stinks.

What are you talking about? Even goaltenders can get injured accidentally this way.

Cat eye masks are more sceceptible to stick blades getting through. That's why they're not available for purchase in Canada or allowed in hockey below 18u in the states.

I.E.
It’s also not unreasonable to assume that yes, Tkachuk wanted to mess with Quick by tapping his cage, which should be a penalty, but also that there was no serious intent to actually destroy Quicks eyeball, since Quick is wearing a face shield that protects his face and eyes. It’s also not unreasonable to assume that Quick turned it into a Oscar worthy performance.

1. You have the evidence above;

2. Oh okay, he wasn’t trying to gouge quick’s eye out, he was just trying to slash him in the face with the tip of his blade. I suppose that’s pretty normal and cool.

Gonna be a looooong 8 years for you defending this guy, might want to figure out where your line in the sand for behavior is.

Maybe A million better ways to do it but he tried several of them during this game, that wasn’t the only incident. After elbowing and slashing Quick in the head a few separate times he wasn’t getting the desired reaction and this was the escalation.
