You obviously don't know much about fighting in the sport though. How many rookie pros beat up AHL heavyweights on a regular basis?

Tinordi needs a few years to fill out, and once he does he'll be a legit heavy who can also play 25 minutes a night.

where did I say that Tinordi should fight ahl heavyweights on a regular basis? Tinordi is not a good fighter. He was not good in junior and is not really good at the moment. Deal with it!

And plenty of rookie pro beat ahl heavy. Devane and Mclrath this year for exemple....... Hell, just look Mark Tinordi fight card. In is second years in the pro, he got win again Nilan, Clark and a draw again Kocur. So its more you that don't know much about fighting in the sport........

Whether you think Tinordi is a good fighter or a bad one, I think we can all agree on one thing - if he lives up to his potential (top 4, heavy-minute eating defenceman), he shouldn't be sitting in the box for fighting goons anyway. He'll be way too valuable to the team to be doing t

That exactly

I want a good defensive D first and foremost, something Tinordi might actually become in the near future, that he's a good fighter or not, I don't really care, we need him on the ice, not in the box...

Bud12, i know that we both have the same opinion on toughness and all, but Tinordi isn't that bad of a fighter, and he will get better.

As for McIlrath, he fought two times Patrice Cormier this year. He had a draw and a loss. Tinordi fought Cormier this year, and Tinordi floored him. So he isn't that bad.

So, what do you think of J. Tinordi overall defensive play ?

Tinordi will probably wear 24 during his career...his dad's number. Alex Henry was assigned #24 when Tinordi was drafted, but has since been released, so the number is available.

Not sure if he chose #42 (24 backwards) or if it was assigned to him.

Who knows? Maybe he took 42 because it was Jackie Robinson's number (which will be retired permanently by MLB when Mariano Rivero retires after this season).

You're looking at things too simplistically. Keep in mind that Jarred is a lanky 20 year old who is still green to fighting as he came up through the USHL. Also keep in mind he's got a massive frame, incredibly long arms, and a willingness to fight and the name "Tinordi" on his sweater.

He just needs some more scraps under his belt and put on 20 pounds. In 5 years this guy is going to be a 25 year old MONSTER. A guy who can go toe to tow with anyone in the league.

Just be patient!

Yes, Tinordi will improve over the time. And adding weight will help him but some poster here think way to big. Its not because he will get bigger that he will automatically becoming a beast. Look Kubina, the guy is big but he suck at fighting will a guy like Simmonds have a "Gollum" shape but show some ability when he drop the gloves. Maybe its me who is to pessimist and I hope so

Question for people here, if you have the choice between Tinordi and Mcllrath, which one would you chose?

The combination of speed and size is interesting and could potentially allow him to carve himself a niche with this team by providing stuff no one is providing. But he's probably too green even for that right now.

It will be nice to see a glimpse of him this season. I don't have high hopes, I think it's just a tap in the back kind of deal to congratulate him on his hard work, motivate him and show him what to expect 6-24 months (hopefully) down the line.

Diaz can't come back soon enough. Can't wait to see a really good puck mover on each D pairing.

I choose Tinordi.

Tinordi's gonna be a very good shutdown d-man, that can hit and drop the mitts from time-to-time.

McIlrath is looking more like a Goon.... Maybe a better Matt Carkner.

i will be at game saturday here in jersey--[actually still have 2 tix available] heres my take on pateryn and tinordi-- pateryn didnt fail his test in montreal but he did not ace it!! tinordi gets his shot--if hes the crease sweeper the way hes advertised then he will stay..if he dominates in front of net and keeps prices vision clear he stays. BUT if he struggles then i think habs make a deal..but its a great place to be--habs in 1st, no real chance of falling out of playoffs , so lets see how our dman in hamilton look. borque out,, we win subban misses few we win, diaz out we win, price struggles we win, back to back with pitts/boston 3 out of 4.. its a nice situation to be in

That never happened.

Komisarek already sucked when Lucic supposedly destroyed his career.
Not true at all.
He tore his shoulder for one thing. Really hope Tinordi doesn't have to play heavyweight, as he'd currently be miscast. In time though I think he could be that guy.
Yup his shoulder was messed up but still you wouldn't expect his entire game to fall apart but that's exactly what happened. He just lost all his confidence, it was sad to watch.
so freaking refreshing to see this team give the kids a chance instead of piccking up a scrub from waivers or signing a campoli
Absolutely. Thank God Vegan Skeletor is gone.

Absolutely. Thank God Vegan Skeletor is gone.

Gauthier drafted Tinordi, traded up for him even. He also traded Halak for Eller, brought over Emelin and Diaz, gave DD his chance...

Can we stop with the Gauthier bashing? He's more responsible for tis first place team than MB is....

I like that Tinordi is willing to drop the gloves and throw, he's not dominating his opponents but he's not a hugger either, in times he'll be a feared fighter. I don't think he'll ever get more 4-5 fights in a single seasons, he'l be more of a 2-3 fights a year kind of player, when it is needed.

He could become better, but he's not at this time, Tinordi is the better skater and has a higher hockey IQ, McIlrath is not as much a feared fighter as he was in the Dub, in the AHL he's not instagating fear in anyone. He's a willing fighter who will fight anyone but he doesn't have the ceiling of Tinordi, i'm pretty sure any Rangers fan would say the same.

I think you are in love with the image you have of McIlrath more than the actual player. I'm all for a Heavyweight on this team and draft thoughness and mit droppers, but Tinordi is a this time a better player than McIlrath and everything indicates that he's gonna be in the future. He could surprise people though.

This is coming from a guy who loves McIlrath.

I like this little audition thing in general, it probably won't last pass Bourque and Diaz coming back but I like the idea of having an element of novelty on the team from time to time.

He'll play with Bouillon probably and I like that. You know, take your pick opposing team: get hit by the fire plug or get hit by the tower if you try to bring the puck in along the boards. Might as well risk the turnover, try to dump and chase on Tinordi's side and hope his skating's the *****

And, with Tinordi, we have 4 Ds whom, no matter their sizes, can **** you up bad with a check. Emelin is Emelin, PK takes a run at you with that frame of his and the torque he has and you're on your ass, Bouillon has this extremely low center of gravity and he's so deceptively STRONG and then Tinordi is 6'6", light for that height, but still 6'6".

It leaves out Gorges and Markov as non-checking types, but if we would not have these two we'd want ones just like them. So that D just like the forwards is fine by me. This team is the best we've had since 93.

I hope he does well, I can see him as a very good partner for Subban in the long run...

2 years down the road our D could look like this ..

Tinnordi, Subban
Emmelin, Diaz
Beaulieu, Georges

Not too shaby on paper!
