well Lilj just past Carlo's career high in points and is playing defensively well sooooo
Hahahaha dude you clearly don't watch hockey outside of the leafs. Also prolly watch 20-25 games max of the leafs if I had to guess. What a terrible take.

A lot of people forget that before his draft year, Liljegren was a top 3 prospect.

Every year in the AHL he learned something new and added it to his game.
So was vesalainen and he's dog shit, what's your point?

We have yet to see one, just one borderline negative comment regarding the Leafs from our Kevin.

This is just what this thread is missing.
Just another, not so unbiased, human being who tweets that a player has played a good game.

Can we handle all of this, I am not so sure. I need a moment to process this.

We have no seen one factual comment from the trolls in this thread. How is stating an exact factual number against one of the best teams in the league biased?

This is a weird one. This Frolov cat isn't generally a big anti-leaf guy, but he's been in Liljegren threads singing the same tune going all the back to that draft. Really odd obsession.

That isn't an opinion? Who is putting the numbers out there is meaningless. Unless you think the stats are biased or something?

If you play bottom pairing minutes in the NHL, you might have a good (stretch of) game(s) here and there without being the next best thing. Thats why you are a NHL player in the first place. On top of that, the Leafs arent even a bad team.

That’s something some have to learn.

Its much more interesting when Kevin tweets that Liljegren was on the ice for many goals against in a 10-7 win vs. Detroit.

The Gio - Lilly pairing played the most minutes against the Point line. His minutes might be limited, mainly due to lack of special team, but he is most certainly not being sheltered.

Everyone was hard on Lilly after the Detroit game, he was even benched for a bit. With a rookie D the good comes with the bad. But he has been a force for the last 10 games or so.

This thread is so toxic its pathetic
Just funny how no matter how well Toronto players play. they get disrespected
These hot takes are beyond pitiful including the trolls that come in here spewing the same crap over and over again.
If liljegren was on another team he would be praised for his play this season
However...... He got drafted by the Leafs and is worth less than a 3rd now
oh he's going to be a healthy scratch in a couple years because thats what happened to Dermott
Our opinions and and our eye's are lying to us.
We have no clue how to assess our players and we're even worse at figuring out value
apparently even a 3rd is too much for Liljegren a 5th at most it seems

Now you’ve done it. You are going to get the “Leaf fan victim mentality” label.

I think the funny thing is if any of the detractors had just watched Liljegren play for 5 games, they would have a different opinion. You can see Liljegren's potential. His ability to read the game and play in all situations hockey is splendid. Let's just ignore his stats and the eye test...is what you guys sound like. Why can't Liljegren ooze potential? He's in his rookie season for goodness sake(almost 23 years old).
You make a good post in regards to Timmy. But what I think most posters are saying is that there are many Leafs fans confusing that potential you talk about with what he actually is today in this thread.

He played more special teams than any other Leaf defenseman against the Bolts and the least minutes 5 on 5..... can we get some reality in here? I'm not even saying the TOIs are a bad thing but damn Leaf fans, do you guys even know who this guy is? The number of post in this thread that are blatantly wrong is astounding.

Guess we watched 2 different games - should check out the timothy liljegren thread on the leafs board. Many people thought he was outstanding
he's been that way since they paired him up with Giordano and I would say passable before Gio got to Toronto

he's a young Dman who's about to play his 65th NHL game on top of the 148 he played in the A learning the professional game.

He's poised, he skates well, handles the puck and normally makes a smart first pass, he still makes mistakes as all young guys do, but he usually never makes the same mistake twice.

He's a keeper and has the advantage of being under team control for the next contract or two and as such I think the price would have to be high for the Leafs to move him.

Are you talking about the sheltered 2:11 seconds of penalty killing?

Talking about Leaf fans not knowing who this guy is because they keep posting false information.

I'll let you bicker with someone else over PK time and who on the team does it and what the lowest 5 on 5 time on the team means when it comes to sheltering.

I’m talking about his overall season, not specific to this game

Among Leafs D he is:
7th in SHTOI/GP
6th in PP TOI/GP
