Not much chance Toronto moves Liljegren. He's 1 of the things they need more of.
A depht d with 1st pass and great skating ability but below average on every other aspevt of the game... whats leafs need more is a really top 3 D, not an other depht dman

He's still dveloping and his development to date hasn't been ideal under Keefe. Very few defensemen have a short learning curve. It's why teams show patience with them.

His development hasn't been ideal under keefe... NHL is NOT a league of development. Its the same type of dmen than ethan bear... he can do some good thing, but bringing nothing special...

I think we are going to find out because I don't think he and Timmins are long for this team.

You don't have a clue when it comes to the Leafs. maybe try actually watching them
Ah right. If only his coach watched him more. Maybe he would have played ahead of Holl or the guy who could barely hold an NHL job the last 5 years, Luke Schenn.

Dude, Samsonov for a late 1st??? Average goaltenders do not have that kind of value. Samsonov would be a backup on most contenders.
Regardless of Samsonovs value Murphy isn't very good. I am however starting to think you may hold a slight bias towards the leafs.

Found the poster who hasn’t watched the Leafs play. Liljegren should be given more credit, was moved up and down the defensive pairings and was solid with most of his partners. When the pairings were poor (ie with Holl), he was never the issue.

Thanks for your 2 cents though.

People seem to forget how good he was for most of the year.

Liljegren/sandin has been overprotected by keefe by using both in easiest situation possible... who had no choice to use rielly in different way and affect rielly game really hard and what exactly the reason why keefe had no choice to use as much Justin Holl all season long.

Yes he was able to play bigger role in a short period of time, like what bear was able to do or like what travis Dermott did for the leaf by the past. Thats doesn't make liljegren a top 4 d

When keefe started to stop protecting him from hard situation after trade deadline, he was totally trash

Leaf fans have a wild imagination. This guy was a scratch. Bottom pairing at best unless the defense was decimated with injuries. But it's the coaches fault or 24 years old is a short learning curve, excuse, excuse, excuse. But let's sing the yearly mantra "next year will be his year".

Reminds me of how Sandin wasn't any good till we got a first for him, then suddenly he was a top pairing dman and we got robbed. Good times.

Lilly isn't for sale
What lunatic called Sandin a top pair defenseman? Please link so I can laugh.

Go to the trade thread when he was sent to Washington.

Sandin have an elite hockey QI and vision
Below average skating and toughness. So hes able to do great thing offensivly but harder defensivly... so its a player need to play as much of possible in offensive situation to maximize what he can bring but was impossible in toronto with rielly in front.

Liljegren have a great 1st pass and great skating ability, his hockey Qi, vision, toughness, defensive ability is below average...hes not enough good offensivly to be a offensive QB and pp specialist, not enough good defensivly to be a shutdown D or a PK specialist... hes a d who can give you around 15-18 at even strenght, thats it...

I know its not rhe answer leafs fan want to hear but if gm/coach have the xhoixe between a player who can give you 15-18 at even strenght and thats it or a player like Schenn or Holl (a player leafs fan wanted pratically his head), pratically every coach and every gm who will choose schenn/holl because they can give you 15-18 of good 5v5 hockey but also giving 24 solid min on penalty kill. Thats why, holl and schenn was in line up and liljegren healthy scratch, its why dubas moved for 2 defensive + an high offensive D. Thats probably why he will still fighting for a roster spot with timmins of not traded. You will see, his roster spot is nit guarantee

Late first for now, but Liljegren has shown he can play top 4 and he has shown to improve at every level given enough time. Would make no sense for the Leafs to trade him unless in a large package for a big upgrade.
