Beautiful B.C.
Ok? All I’m saying is if he had a few PP or Pk minutes to go along with his ~15 ES minutes he’d be up around 17-19 which is more than a bottom pairing D…
When somebody says something so obviously condescending (and probably thinks hes really clever about it), hes not looking for any actual debate or discussion on it. He's just looking to make himself feel better for lacking real life social skills.

If wishes and nuts.....

His minutes probably wouldn't be where they are if the Leafs haven't had so many injuries either.

If you play bottom pairing minutes in the NHL, you might have a good (stretch of) game(s) here and there without being the next best thing. Thats why you are a NHL player in the first place. On top of that, the Leafs arent even a bad team.

That’s something some have to learn.

Its much more interesting when Kevin tweets that Liljegren was on the ice for many goals against in a 10-7 win vs. Detroit.
You must’ve missed where it said the bulk of his sheltered minutes were played against

This isn't a debate or opinion. The poster is factually wrong.

Lets check that.
The Gio - Lilly pairing played the most minutes against the Point line. (Fact) His minutes might be limited (Fact), mainly due to lack of special team(debateable), but he is most certainly not being sheltered.(debateable)

Everyone was hard on Lilly after the Detroit game(Fact), he was even benched for a bit.(Fact) With a rookie D the good comes with the bad(Less of a fact and more of a trend). But he has been a force for the last 10 games or so.(Fact)
He is off to a pretty good start. Even if your opinion is that he is sheltered or his minutes might be limited due to special teams those are also incredibly difficult to prove as fact.
I’m talking about his overall season, not specific to this game

Among Leafs D he is:
7th in SHTOI/GP
6th in PP TOI/GP
I cant comment on whether or not The Podium is talking about this season or the game so i can not say (and neither can you, TS) if this is a factual statement or not.

The rest of the post are literally just factual statistics.

So where was he factually incorrect? Even if he was (I cant see that he is in those posts) what part of him being "factually wrong" gives you the right to be so condescending. You levitating above him with your superior opinion or something?

How about, instead of being an ass. you just dont. You'll find people look at you like less of a impudent child and be willing to actually engage in conversation with you more readily.

Posters usually start being rude when there is nothing left for them to say to support their argument.

Now you’ve done it. You are going to get the “Leaf fan victim mentality” label.
Dont care anymore. cant go into any Leafs thread without seeing some kind of bashing.
Just annoying going into anything that has to do with the Leafs now
They can say Leafs fan victim mentality all they like.
Literally cant even enjoy our team without having to defend them every single day in here.
Just sick of it

it's because your fan base is so large so you're gonna have low hanging fruit and obnoxious fans. No offense but for every woe is me story you decide to discuss about the trials of being a LEAFS fan there is 10 examples of your fanbase being obnoxious and pissing off fans of other teams.

Not saying thats you at all, it's just the reality. If someone made an arbitrary Jagr thread within 10 posts we'd hear about how Matthews is better....leads to a lot of resentment from every other fanbase when this site has to be either a. all about the leafs or b. leafs fans crying about how they feel attacked.

it's a catch 22 your fanbase created and even the level headed ones need to deal with...

I see no difference in fandom from other franchises as well.
I see the same thing about someone saying x is better than y
Barkov, McDavid, Draisaitl, the list goes on

Matthews been popping up alot lately I agree but his play is what forced it.
Not often you get players doing what he is doing

But the thing is leafs fans are always being attacked.
no matter the thread or topic almost 1 and every 10-20 posts there's a troll

we even pop up in threads as a joke that has nothing to do with them check post #7

The valuation Liljegren has been getting in here for majority of the pages Ive read is incredible low from other teams. his play has warranted a little more respect than he's been getting and if he was in VAN and Dermott in TOR still and Leafs fans compared Dermott to Liljegren we would get laughed at by every member on here.

and you know it's true

This deal would benefit both sides quiet well:

To Toronto: Dickinson, Briesbois and a 2025 5th

To Vancity: Liljegren, 2024 2nd and 2023 4th

Totally different type of D. If we can dump Barrie off on someone I’d move our 1st+ for him.

So your saying we could get the 20-30th overall pick for a guy just playing his first full season after developing for 4 years and playing lights out even though we are in a cap crunch need cheap contracts and going for it ourselves????? Please can we give you a developed asset for magic beans likely not ready until for another 3 years….or maybe never

Honestly, there is a supply shortage of quality rd. When you factor in the economics of his control (look at the return on the Hagel trade for how the league values low cap hit players) you’re looking at a very steep price once we get him to a sweet under value contract. The guy has developed into a top 4 d at such a young age, rare!

He did say 1st + though. Assuming the + isn’t much, but that probably is the closest offer in this thread to market value. Not saying it makes sense for Toronto, but in terms of market value, that’s pretty close to what it is.

Toronto needs an overpay otherwise he’s going nowhere.

Better chance Sandin gets moved before Lily. We need RHD more and at this point Lily is a better player too. He might not be getting a lot of minutes. But he is getting some hard ones. Pretty sure he wasn't on a goal against either in the Tampa or florida game recently. And In the Tampa game he was mainly up against the point line. And took there lunch money. Lily isn't going anywhere close the thread like other Leafs have been saying.

Start a thread on it then. This thread is Leafs fans trying to get any kind of value for Liljegren

This is a thread where other teams tell Leafs fans we should trade Timmy and Leaf Fans say they would not traded him unless there is a large over pay.

Round and round we go.
