Holl gets crapped on for the smallest of things. People are literally looking for an excuse to crap on him, even though he has been great for most of the season.

Sandin escapes a lot of criticism. Dermott doesn't really do enough to warrant anything, but he has been good when he has played too.

Justin Holl is horrible. I'd rather dress Liljegren and hope he learns from his mistakes.

No clue why we are still rostering Holl & Dermott. Overall, I’ve been ok with how Dubas has managed the team. But if he has a flaw, it’s that he lets personal relationships with the players cloud his judgement.

Dermott & Holl are not bad players. They also have low cap hits. Should not be difficult to move for assets. Sandin & Liljegren are already better. Lyubushkin just got here and is significantly better.

Really happy with Liljegren’s play here as a rookie. Personally, I think he has more upside than Sandin due to his size and skating. Think he could be a good top 4 guy for us moving forward with a chance of being a number 2.

Apparently the Canucks want him. Do the Leafs really want to target Miller, who will be a UFA after next year? Liljegren fora rental doesn't make sense to me.

Liljegren has tons of upside.

I’ll be pissed if we trade him. He’s getting good results in his first NHL season at 22 years old. He’s got great chemistry with our other top defensive young player and has started to really come into his own offensively over the past little while. I get that he makes some glaring mistakes (show me a young defenseman that doesn’t) and that more than half of the pundits in the media can’t stand him, but I think it’d be a big mistake.

For the love of God, don't trade Liljegren!

For over 30 years I've been witness to the Leafs' inability to develop defensemen. We've got Lily, Sanding, and Niemla all coming up now. This is the most promising future that Toronto's defense has ever had.

Liljegren seems to be more comfortable on the ice these days and its nice to see him shooting the puck more and making some good passes for assists. If there's Dmen that the Leafs want to trade, let it be Dermott or Holl.

Damn right he's looking more comfortable. He's been contributing offensively and gaining experience. Now that he's getting regular minutes and they've stopped treating him like a yo-yo by bouncing him in and out of the lineup, we're seeing him much more at ease.

He's been steadily improving all season and it's been great to watch. He's surpassed my expectations for this season.

Is that saying he should be making 9.1m ?

This model doesn't really account for cap space though so it's kind of meaningless IMO. McDavid probably should be at 25-30M according to that model but I think the key is that Liljegren is clearly playing at a high level and it would be a mistake if he is on the bench for even a single playoff game.

The Leafs should look to sign him to a 7-8 year deal.
