Sensible fans always saw him as a 20G 50A type player in his prime.

Sensible fans did not change that projection when he made a fancy assist on that PP that one time.

Sensible fans have not changed that projection during his struggle to score early this season.

This board is like riding a rickety wooden roller coaster full of people you hate.

If he can improve his release and shot and turn that 20G into 30G I'd be pretty happy with that. I had him pegged as a PPG player in his prime, not necessarily a franchise level 100pt potential but high end forward none the less. Raymond might be at his level or slightly higher, too early to tell. This is why I've repeatedly advocated we prioritize drafting players with high ceiling potential to complement Stutzle, him alone will not be enough, and there is a significant drop off in forward talent after him. If he doesn't hit or exceed his expected potential and we don't add another player of his caliber to the system soon, this rebuild roster won't be competitive enough to contend. That is my night mare scenario right now after all the pain we've gone through, I'd completely lose interest in the team at that point, another decade of mediocrity is not something I can stomach anymore.

I think Batherson is every bit as skilled as Stutzle, maybe more. So is Norris, Tkachuk & C. Brown, they just get their pts in different ways. Formenton is also showing that he will get as many opportunities as Stutzle in games with his speed & both need to finish more. Pinto has also shown how important he is to this team in a different way.

This constant narrative that he is the most skilled player is simply not true yet. Although he is an excellent skater & puck handler they don't give you pts for that, Ennis is pretty good at that too. Once Pinto returns I think that should help him, but they will also need a good scoring RWer to take the pressure off of him. They will need two & three lines working well & producing for this team to start winning consistently & they can't do that with so many AHL players in their lineup every night.

You seem to be talking about right now, while my post was regarding the future in 2-3 years when our window should start opening. We're discussing two different timelines.

I agree with your current assessment, but that's not what I was referring to. This season is already a write off in my books.

Agreed, although who knows what the future will bring, right now it's all about potential with him. And it's certainly understandable that he is younger than most of those other guys.

He has more NHL points than the guys taken at #1OA and #2OA have in the AHL/NHL … the kids good. Laf has two more goals playing with way better line mates and he only has 4pts so far.

All of Laf's goal have been literal empty nets

Not worried about his production since he's been creating plenty of solid chances. His "deer in headlights" moments in the defensive zone don't seem to be happening as often either. Obviously hoping for more progress and big points etc. but he looks fine so far.

He’s had a ton of the very same chance he buried last night.

The only difference is that it was on and off his stick immediately.

usually he corals those passes and tries to pick a corner, giving the goalie a chance to recover.

Last night shot it right away and the goalie had little chance.

Love seeing it finally. He could have 5 of those already this season pretty easily.
