My concern with young players is typically that they are too deferential, lack creativity, possess a "deer in the headlights" mentality where they are so scared of making mistakes that they don't make much of an impact and get rid of the puck as soon as they get it.

I don't see any of those signs from Stutzle. He's where he belongs.

Depth is an issue with the Sens to properly continue positive development of our top young assets.

This I agree with & considering all the players that are out for this org due to injuries & Covid. I doubt any NHL team has enough depth to deal with this situation especially one that is rebuilding & just trying to put together an NHL roster.

All this negative talk about Stützle is silly. He is always looking to make an impact on ice, and DJ Smith should be encouraging that from his creative player(s). I am not impressed with his numbers, nobody is including himself. He is on the cusp, but the team is devoid of NHL talents beyond the young guns that include a teenager in Stützle. This guy is a süperstar in the making, learning on the fly playing tough minutes despite playing for a novice coach with questionable roster decisions when it comes to youth players. Stützle will eventually figure it all out.

The team lacked depth to start the season, with the injuries since making the depth chart butt fugly.

The job is Dorion's to get this team more help, DJ's to use them properly. The help being actual NHL players, not donkeys being bought at race horse prices. Veteran NHLers that can help insulate the youth on the team which includes Stützle.

He'll need to use this upcoming off-season very, very well. Not saying he didn't this off-season, but coming up, he'll need to become a brick shithouse in the core area - like Alfie, and then the sky really is the limit.

I don't see much development year over year from Timmy admittedly.

He needs to improve in all aspects of his game but especially physically. The guy's 19 so I'll cut him some slack but talk about needing to hit a weight room. He gets knocked off the puck like Kyle Turris.

On the bright side, Stutzle has done better pts wise than Lafreniere so far in the NHL on a worse team. Still way too early, but it's at least promising.

To be fair, the kid hasn't even played a full season worth of games in the NHL yet. He isn't technically a rookie because of the shortened season, but he is still very much a rookie.

I don't think he's ready to play center but I do think it'll be a good thing for his development. I think it'll help him understand the intricacies of the NHL and ultimately if he returns to wing it should help him understand where to be to support his center. If this can help him simplify his game, make better and shorter passes, and just process what's happening on the ice they should explore it. He'll have more ice to work with too and the puck on his stick more so it's definitely something that could help him develop.

The season is lost and I think it could benefit the player in the long run.

I think it's going to be real ugly at first, he has no strength and I doubt he'll be good on faceoffs, he'll try to dipsy doodle in the NZ, probably often out of position, turning pucks over, but it'll be a good learning process. Just have to be careful with him so that he doesn't lose confidence. He's managing at wing but center will be harder for him especially.

Stutzle at Centre is probably a Dorion move but i don't mind it at all GM has every right to interfere when the team is at the bottom.

I don't think it's a Dorion move, just a lack of better options right now. Nick Paul did not do well as a center, and who else do they have to step into that role.

His defensive play has really improved this year imo, his issues defensively at this point are more often in relation to his play with the puck while on offense, letting a guy strip him of the puck because he holds on too long looking for that perfect play. Idk if he's ready to play center or not but it's worth a shot, and might be a good learning experience for him too.

If he can round out his play and become more of a two way force we'll have something really special in him.

I thought Paul had some good moments but it's pretty clear he isn't suited to be a top 6 center. Maybe in a shut down role where he really only worries about the DZ he could do ok, but his best offensive attributes are on the forcheck and being center takes away from his opportunity to really get on the opposing D to force turnovers.
