Ringo for better or worse is a historical figure in a way that few others are. The Beatles are over 69 years old and with the exception of a few Kanye West fans they are still well known. Even if you’ve never listened to a Beatles record you’ve heard a number of their songs. On commercials if not on ambient music played in an office or restaurant. If you listen to music whoever’s music you listen to will happily suggest that the Beatles were some sort of influence. In 100 years Ringo will still be relatively well known even if Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend and even Waters and Gilmour and Page and Plant aren’t. Doesn’t make him a better person nor is his music better but seeing him is like seeing Greg Nettles even if it isn’t Reggie Jackson. How’s that for being old.

I think Zeppelin will still be relevant on that time frame, even if the individual members are not.

Same thing with the Rolling Stones. Maybe only Jagger will still be well known, but the music certainly will be because of its enduring influence.

A couple of weeks ago I was joking around about moving to NJ , buying a condo close to the Rock and watch all Devils home games. Just needed to win the lottery lol.
Just recently , it was announced that a person won 70 million . The winning ticket was sold at the gas station I go to daily . It’s in a tiny town just outside of the city I live in. My work office is next door to the gas station ….
I buy tickets there twice a week for the last 3 years. The odds that the winning ticket was sold there are insane. The lotto is Canada wide so the chances a gas station in a shit hole with a population of just over 1,000 people is insane.

Now I’m going nuts thinking I missed out on 70 million . Workers at the gas station said the winning ticket was sold around lunch time. Same time I go buy my tickets lol.
I know it doesn’t really work that way where the winning ticket probably needs to be generated the exact millisecond in order to randomly generate the number but still… Its still a kick to the balls.

I love Led Zeppelin. They are often derided as stealing from the blues figures that came before them (unfairly in my view). Maybe Stairway to Heaven is timeless but the rest of it I'm not sure. I'm not talking about fans of rock music, in 50 years that will probably be a fairly small number of people if my kids' friends are any guide to the future. The Rolling Stones are much more likely and Mick Jagger is probably a timeless individual. I would suggest that seeing the Stones is also historical. Rock and Roll is fading to a great extent. Other than Greta Van Fleet I can't even name a young rock group that is relevant. It breaks my heart.

There are a few that are culturally relevant, but they generally are considered alt-rock. And definitely none are on the level of cultural influence attained by the Beatles, Stones, and Zeppelin.

Cage the Elephant, The Black Keys, Florence and the Machine, and The War on Drugs come to mind immediately as recognized modern rock groups, though I'm sure I'm forgetting some.

Rock isn't dead. It's just not the overwhelmingly dominant musical form anymore.

Why? It was your choice. Whatever comes next it sounds like you wanted to leave. Just be professional and thank anyone who you might ask for a recommendation later on.

How long were you there for?

Almost 9 years. I just really like my boss and coworkers and hate letting them down like this. I have a really awesome opportunity at the new job I'm getting, but I just feel bad because I work with a lot of genuinely good folks.

Everyone understands, I can assure you of that. I left a job that I worked at for about the same time and I knew I made the right move when I informed them and they didn't even try to get me to stay. Don't look back, you're making this decision for a reason and you'll be better off in the long run.

My company is losing a lot of people right now who are leaving for better opportunities. Yes it leaves us shorthanded, but nobody begrudges them seizing a chance to get a bump in pay and/or advance their careers.

If your colleagues are the genuinely good people you think they are, they will understand. It may be harder to maintain friendships and professional connections from that job, but that's the nature of it.

Best of luck to you in your new job.

On the bright side, I'm finishing my Master's degree in the next two weeks, will likely graduate with a 3.93, and interviewed for two jobs based on it. Got offers on both, chose the one I like better. :)

So I think the video, while entertaining and full of celebrity cameos, makes no sense with respect to the song beyond the concept of a search for something elusive. That said, I bet every celebrity who appeared was thrilled to do so and probably disappointed if they couldn't meet Dhani. I'm not sure what direction he will want to take for George's legacy music but at least he's trying.
