Enjoy it while it lasts. They only care about anything having to do with you for so long.

Yes , I am savouring it while lasts . I’m scared about the teenager years . I’ll be chopped liver then probably but for now she is Daddies little girl . I know it’s not right but I spoil the crap out of her now . Not monetary items really but rather when I’m not working , I am doing something with her and I love it. Going for bike rides , tobogganing , Ice skating , rollerblading , taking out dog for walks , going to the library , reading stories , go swimming etc etc. I know that it will probably come to a screeching halt soon so may as well try to do as much as I can now lol.
I am trying to get her to give watching hockey a chance . It’s slowly coming where she will want to watch the odd period here and there lol. She is 6 years old right now and she gets a kick out of cheering for whatever team is playing the Devils lol. She is kidding but thinks it’s hilarious when I act defensive and say “ No ! These guys are the best ! The best team ever ever ever ! How can you not cheer for the coolest team in the world !”

My boys love a number of sports and played a bunch and even for them pro sports didn’t have that much appeal until about 8-9 years old. In my view you can’t spoil a child by interacting with them. The more you discuss things with her - especially when you have to restrict her or discipline her - the better off you will be when she gets older. Also make sure she sees you and your wife reading and try to chat about some thoughtful things. If she sees mom and dad try to be thoughtful she will want to be as well. Sounds like you are already off to a great start. Best of luck and look to what works with other parents if you are stumped.

Behold my mother in law’s cooking. Machaca, beans, homemade tortillas, and cotija cheese (apparently it’s not always grated like Parmesan). I’m gonna have to tread lightly over the next two-plus months or else I’m gonna blow up.

Similar to a post above regarding new avatars/profile pic. Is anyone on this thread able to produce or point me in the right direction of a custom Devils profile picture? Looking one that blend or meshes in the Devils logo with Michigan Wolverines "M" logo. My computer graphics skill set begins and ends with Microsoft Paint.

My wife's a graphic designer, maybe she can make something if I ask.

And people say there is no kindness in the world nowadays. Thanks if she can.

I was sort of hoping there was a thread with them all done up already from years prior but had no luck tracking it down.

No celebrating for me this year, unfortunately. My mother-in-law is here and she's not a fan, presumably because my father-in-law has had his fair share of drug benders in the past (and present). It doesn't help that he works for his brother and his line of work has a lot of exposure to drugs (musician on tour). My older brother-in-law is so opposed to drugs of all kinds that he even unfollowed a cat he liked on TikTok because they shared a video of the cat using catnip. No joke.

Last time I went to Prudential Center, I walked to Hobby's before going to the game. It wasn't open (any word on when it's coming back?), but I did see a dispensary ready to be opened right around there. So if you ever want to see a Devils game... on weed, keep on eye on that space.

If you are going with Beatles with others it's hard to beat Tom Petty, Jeff Lynne, and Mike Campbell with George and Ringo. Now, Ringo didn't actually play on the record he only appeared in the video.

Speaking of Ringo, my wife got me tickets for his All Starr Band show at the Beacon in June. :) I've wanted to see him for quite a while but ticket prices for his shows are usually on the high end, so I wouldn't go which is STUPID. Stupid because if you want to really see an artist, don't put it off, because ......

Side stories on two artists I never got a chance to see. Tom Petty. His last tour before his death, we wanted to see him at Prudential, but had tickets already for Train up at Bethel Woods. We'll make sure we see him next tour.

Then there was Aretha Franklin. We had tickets to see her twice, and both times the show was cancelled due to illness. About 3 weeks after the second show was cancelled, she passed away.

Ringo. Petty, Aretha. Yeah, I'm that old. ;)

Ringo for better or worse is a historical figure in a way that few others are. The Beatles are over 69 years old and with the exception of a few Kanye West fans they are still well known. Even if you’ve never listened to a Beatles record you’ve heard a number of their songs. On commercials if not on ambient music played in an office or restaurant. If you listen to music whoever’s music you listen to will happily suggest that the Beatles were some sort of influence. In 100 years Ringo will still be relatively well known even if Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend and even Waters and Gilmour and Page and Plant aren’t. Doesn’t make him a better person nor is his music better but seeing him is like seeing Greg Nettles even if it isn’t Reggie Jackson. How’s that for being old.
