Of course he's hurt.

It's not as if the Flyers could have held him out of the lineup for "trade-related reasons" like many other teams do at this time of year. Seattle did it last night. Protect your assets.

I'm still waiting until after the deadline to see how this all shakes out - but man, oh, man, it's like they just pulled a u-turn in the middle of the freeway.
Why hold a player out that was never being traded ?

Wrong
Surely you mean he would earn enough money to lease one of these, right?

It's Nick f***ing Seeler we're talking about here guys. There's no way it's that kind of money for that kind of term, right?

RIGHT??!?!?

What was the event where Briere was walking things back when asked about a rebuild and being like 'well, we drafted some guys already,' back before Gauthier was traded?

Need like a full time line.

“And in that meeting, I said ‘You just can’t fall in love’,” Tortorella concluded. “You can’t because if you do, it’s going to set you back. We’ve got to look at the organizational view of how to do this. You’ll be friends with that player if you like him that much. You’ll be friends and you’re gonna care about him the rest of your life, but there has to be– there’s going to be some tough decisions coming along here. So, we gotta be really careful to not let our emotions get in the way of making the proper decision for the team.”

I'm already envisioning the PHLY interview with Jones after they extend Walker and Seeler.

But you told the fans you would be focused on future.

We are. We determined we wanted them to be part of our future.

Ok, makes perfect sense. Best of luck on continued success with the rebuild.
ummm what are next weeks lotto numbers.

since you are clearly from the future.. 🥃🥃🥃

Colby essentially said he’s not taking the risk on Walker when the price tag could be like around $5M for 4-5 years if he’s anybody let alone the Flyers who should be looking to the future. He said everything we knew about Walker leading up to this year is he’s a #5-7 defensemen & at age 29 he’s played his first good season as a #3-4. He said while there’s cases of guys doing that it’s more the exception & he’s not willing to take that bet that Walker becomes an exception.

So yeah if you lost that guy & he’s actually making a lot of sense you know it’s bad.

Frank hammered home pretty much same points as yesterday. He thinks they’re a bubble team caliber, not sure if the playoffs this year are a good enough bet to pass up trading these guys. Then in regards to next year still thinks they’re a bubble team at best which could see them out of the playoffs so without those assets & possibly Seeler/Walker under more expensive contracts it doesn’t make sense to him.
Andrew MacDonald anyone? I remember really liking him when we first traded for him. The rest is history.

Just collect all this stuff so it can be thrown in their face at the most opportune time.

The Flyers can't confirm they were always rebuilding this week, they can only confirm they never were.

The rebuild is not contingent on whether we get a 3rd Rd pick for seeler

I'd honestly value a b prospect over the second for Walker as we don't have anyone new coming to camp next year

Am I the only one (saying in a non-sarcastic way) who thinks that this was preparation for the Hart reveal as one of the players charged?

We shall see.

Ive been thinking more about that rumor that teams might be interested in both. When has a cup contender had an oppurtubity to add an entire defense pair who have played together a lot of the season successfuly in a 2nd pair role all for 2 million dollars? Adding them as a bottom pair seems like a hell of an oppurtunity.

Not that theyd ever do it bc they love seeler...but that seems like itd be the smartest way to maximize return.

The hollowness of the Flyers strategy in a nutshell. They bemoan not having top talent like Colorado and Florida, yet say they don't want to "tank" or be contractually top heavy (bottom heavy is preferable). They want to cling to the fantasy of finding all the top talent they need in the late 1st-2nd round, and yet, they willingly pass up acquiring those picks for depth players. Their entire plan is playing the Powerball with 5 tickets.
