Rumor: Things Not Left Unsaid: Flyers Rumors & Media Mentions

The only reason Walker is a Flyer is because they needed to facilitate a Provorov trade. They hit gold and now are going to commit long term and miss out on a top two round pick for a gimmicky playoff run.

Just collect your surplus value and if you find you can’t live without him, sign him in the summer. This isn’t hard.

wins in the margins is for Nerds..

we play a honest game here...

🤣🤣🤣🤣

If the choice is between the right way, the wrong way or the unbelievably stupid way, the Flyers will go full stupid each and every time.

Don’t believe me? Ok, just remember
JVR for Schenn
Sam Morin at 11OA
the hiring of Hak
the hiring of Cuk
the hiring of AV
Paying a 2nd to lose Ghost
Using that cap space to waste assets on Fisto
Signing Hayes
Extending Fisto
Hiring Torts
Promoting Jones to PoHO
Not trading Laughton last year
Not firing Rocky months ago

It will be full on stupid because it’s always full on stupid

They "Can't" trade Risto, he's worthless.

And also why do they have to extend them now while being held over a barrel ?

Wait till they miss the playoffs at least before committing long term to role players.

Ristolainen is exactly the kind of player who, if anyone actually wanted him, they'd say 'wow he's valuable we gotta keep him.'

It really shows their savvy

I still think you could get maybe a second or third rounder for Ristolainen but you’re probably gonna have to mitigate his remaining contract. He’s not a $5.1M player for the next three years anymore if you’re using him on the third pair & not playing him on the PP which the Flyers paid for initially (foolishly).

The production & ice time aren’t there anymore as the Flyers continually decreased his role under Tortorella. Teams still foolishly look at those things like the Flyers did initially & not really put much context to it where Buffalo spent years playing as their #1 in all situations playing him with their top players inflating those things.

Frank apparently said this morning on his show the Flyers are likely leaning towards extending Walker & Seeler fwiw. Seeler apparently asking for $4x4.

So I was going off of what people were saying on twitter until I got home & listened to it myself. Essentially said he thinks the framework of potential extensions for Walker & Sealer are progressing close if they were to go that route. He said Seeler’s number would be north of $3M per year.

He said he believes the Flyers ask for Laughton is a first rounder & nobody is biting for that to this point & I guess not really confident that ends up changing on other team’s end by Friday.

Surely you mean he would earn enough money to lease one of these, right?

It's Nick f***ing Seeler we're talking about here guys. There's no way it's that kind of money for that kind of term, right?

RIGHT??!?!?

I feel like if I would have 10 uninterrupted minutes with this management group I could walk out with a million dollars in cash.

I'm already envisioning the PHLY interview with Jones after they extend Walker and Seeler.

But you told the fans you would be focused on future.

We are. We determined we wanted them to be part of our future.

Ok, makes perfect sense. Best of luck on continued success with the rebuild.

Bunch of boot lickers they became. BSH was one of the few willing to call out incompetence, and they slobber all over the franchise currently.

Treasonous rats

I never really read or listened to BSH. I read some of CoC's stuff on The Athletic and found him insufferable. He pretends to be some serious reporter but most of the time he's just writing press releases with whatever quotes the team gives him.

I've watched some of the PHLY podcasts and have been introduced to Kelly Hinkle. All I can say is that a Kelly Hinkle who hosts a Flyers podcast for a living looks exactly how you'd expert her to look.

Frank had Colby Cohen on the podcast, you can add Colby as another guy who thinks the Flyers are losing the plot in regards to Walker & Seeler.

Colby essentially said he’s not taking the risk on Walker when the price tag could be like around $5M for 4-5 years if he’s anybody let alone the Flyers who should be looking to the future. He said everything we knew about Walker leading up to this year is he’s a #5-7 defensemen & at age 29 he’s played his first good season as a #3-4. He said while there’s cases of guys doing that it’s more the exception & he’s not willing to take that bet that Walker becomes an exception.

So yeah if you lost that guy & he’s actually making a lot of sense you know it’s bad.

Frank hammered home pretty much same points as yesterday. He thinks they’re a bubble team caliber, not sure if the playoffs this year are a good enough bet to pass up trading these guys. Then in regards to next year still thinks they’re a bubble team at best which could see them out of the playoffs so without those assets & possibly Seeler/Walker under more expensive contracts it doesn’t make sense to him.

Posted it in the Roster thread but I guess it can go here too.

Kurz says he heard from a source that Seeler could miss "a little bit of time" but not a long term injury.

Perfect.
Phew, thank goodness it's only day to day. That'll be over in a jiffy!

So I don’t know where that person got that number from. I’m guessing they pieced together two reports from two different people. Like I said in my follow up post after actually listening to it myself Frank said the AVV for Seeler is going to come in north of $3M.

Now I just listened to Pagnotta where he said the Flyers are trying to get both Walker & Seeler signed to four year deals if they go that route but he didn’t mention an AVV with Seeler.

Perfect.

Of course he's hurt.

It's not as if the Flyers could have held him out of the lineup for "trade-related reasons" like many other teams do at this time of year. Seattle did it last night. Protect your assets.

I'm still waiting until after the deadline to see how this all shakes out - but man, oh, man, it's like they just pulled a u-turn in the middle of the freeway.
