Deslauriers is playing much better this season, maybe b/c he's playing with real centers who can skate in Poehling and Laughton? Last season the 4C was primarily Brown and Laczynski, with Sedlak for a few games.

CF 49.27%, CFrel -3.80, xGF 59.50%, xGFrel +6.80, HDCF 53.79%, HDCFrel +0.50
CF% Rel now down to -5.45%. The only forwards with worse shot attempt stats are his fellow 4th line failures. They're also last in GF% Rel.

Those are useless stats. Nics value comes in the form of hitz,punches thrown vs punches landed.Let’s not forget the protection he brings from intimidation. LOL

32 Thoughts:

1)The NHL is better if Philly is doing well, even though EF thought they’d blow this year and beyond;
2)Sanheim was challenged last season to live up to his new contract, but EF re-asserted that if Krug had said yes, Sanheim would now be a Blue;
3)Walker is looking great and other teams are starting to take notice, inquire about his availability, and EF is hearing about it. Philly now has to make a choice on whether to keep him. (7 year 6.5 year per deal incoming).

Got a full second segment on the 32 Thoughts pod this morning on how the Flyers are thriving.
Top story was Laine, and how CBJ are desperate for centers. Could we see another trade with the Flyers happening soon? I could see Briere bailing on Frost for a 3rd, just to keep Torts happy.

CBJ spent the whole summer looking for centers, drafted Fantilli obviously, only to bench Kent Johnson in hopes the center they would find was actually Laine.

It has gotten to the point with Frost where either the Flyers use him or lose him. If he goes it will just be another page in the tedious book of Flyers ditching talented players because some coach can't figure out how to utilize them-Jake, Ghost, Frost and others.
All coaches have players on their roster that they don't like for one reason or another. Tough ****. Part of the coaches job is to figure out how to get the best out of each player for the benefit of the team. Now maybe there's something about Frost in the locker room or off of the ice that rubs his mates the wrong way and merits his being dealt. However nothing has ever come out to indicate that as being the case. This just looks like another situation where a horseshit coach can't get along with a player. If players are to be held accountable for poor play, then coaches need to be held to the same standards.

A shrewd GM finds a way to market Walker's late-blooming rise as a sneaky pickup compared to whatever other big name defensemen are available at the deadline.

For once I hope that the Flyers are the team ripping someone else off. Can't anyone else see Ken Holland plausibly trading a 1st round pick for Walker out of desperation?

IDK if a first for Walker would be a move made out of desperation if he continues to play like he has so far this season. A first for a top four RHD is a bargain.
Where it gets to be spongy ground is whether the Flyers decide to extend him. EF suggested 5X$6.5 this morning. Would he be worth that here? Interesting call for DB.

If I'm a GM trading a 1st for a defenseman, I'd want it to be someone with a slightly longer track record than Walker. Not to mention Walker is a UFA with his eyes on a payday if his current play and growing league attention keeps up throughout the season. That's why trading a 1st for him reeks of desperation to me.

Imagine 2010 Flyers equivalent team that could trade for Walker @ 50% plus Seeler and shore up their 3rd pairing. That would be worth a first I think

This is why the rebuild will fail....bc tbey cant f***ing help themselves. They always fall in love with players and opt to reward them with a big contract rather than sell high or recognize theyre not right for the future.

Walker, TK, Laughton, Hart, Atkinsion are all going to be kept/extended. Thats going to fill out the salary cap moving forward...preventing any real change.
