There are no more East Germans. They are only Germans now. But dialects are hilariously different, a Brandenburger dialect is different than a Bavarian dualect. Yeah, they would try to talk in Haupt Deutsch. But then they would argue in their local dialect and the situation would become even more confusing. I would be smiling.

I worked for a German company. I have been there maybe 150 times over 35 years. Wonderful food, beer and wine in Baden-Baden and Bavaria with Alsace just a few miles from HQ. plus cruising 200 kph on A5 is a blast. Then a MB going 250 kph wants to pass you......

Plus, classical music is still popular. Perhaps 5 or so scientists in my company { I did work a scientific company!] were part-time musicians for the Karlsruhe Symphony when they needed them to play
