Leddy is one of the worst defenders in the league. It’s the equivalent of saying Sanheim would be on a 2nd pair behind Andrew MacDonald. He’s a place holder on that pair (Parayko isn’t a beauty himself these days). You know this, so this is all a waste.
And how good will Sanheim be on a first pair? We know metrics are slanted by usage, players who are solid further down the lineup can struggle when you ask them to do too much. Sanheim is pretty much what he was the couple years before last year, a solid 2nd pair D-man with some limitations. He's unlikely to suddenly blossom, though he should bounce back. Make him a 1st pair LHD, and I think he'll slip a bit.

We know they want to move Sanheim now. I think he’s worth more than a late 1st. I agree a team like Calgary should be all over this.

Think we need to trade TK for the 9 OA
They should be looking to move him before his NTC triggers - he's a good player, but not one you'd want to count on maintaining his player into his 30s. When this team is competitive, he'll be 30 with 4 years left on his contract - though by then $6M for say your 4th best D-man probably won't be that big of a burden. However, I'm not sure his skill set is conducive to graceful aging.

Kinda hope they keep it simple. Hayes @ 50% for #29 and Scandella. Seems right. Don’t over complicate it. Sanheim on his own should fetch a better pick, especially from a team like Calgary who’s about to lose half their roster.
It would be hilarious and not at all surprising if something like that ended up happening and all of the insiders made up some BS about how this that or the other thing fell through. I honestly don't believe much of what was "reported" today and expect that if and when this deal is done it will be significantly different.

TDA at 2.5 mil could prob get you a decemt return the thd trade deadline.

We are losing out on that oppurtunity bc Torts cant swallow his ego for 6 months.

Between that and krug not wanting to play for him, Briere is learning quickly how torts is an internal obstacle .

I tried telling everyone torts would be a horrible hire, long b4 he was hired here

Devaluing TDA, Hayes and Sanheim by not using them optimally and then having a say which players need to go in the offseason and a terrible combination.

If Torts doesn't like Gauthier or other future prospects, they won't develop and they will end up selling below their potential value as well.

This is blowing smoke.
The problem with TDA is who do you sit for him - Walker, Risto or Attard?
Walker is more likely to garner a good return at the TDL.
And if you want York to QB PP1, how much value does TDA have to the Flyers?
Torts gave TDA every chance to "build value," 1st pair, PP1 duty - TDA sucked, people here wanted him benched, now they're complaining that Torts didn't fluff him? Like scouts would care?

There is no evidence that Krug doesn't want to play for Torts, Cassidy is a bigger asshole, yet I'll bet Krug would jump at a chance to go to Vegas.
Maybe it's not the coach, maybe a 32 year old player doesn't want to spend the rest of his career on a rebuilding team?

Like what? A second round pick, mayyyyybe?

So you block a roster spot all year & have a bad environment all for the hope of a 2nd rd pick?

No. He’s not in your plans, you move on.

TDA is blocking no Flyer D man. We don’t have any on right side.

Would rather of just done the Laughton deal and try Hayes elsewhere.

Calgary and Wpg should be in on Sanheim.

Move TDA at deadline and force Dino coach to use him.

We should trade tippet before his value goes down too and just turn him in quick pump and dump. Tippet won't make this team any less bad going forward, the futures can.

One quick thing that has nothing to do with Sanheim or any other player in particular.

On most teams, there isn’t much difference in role difficulty playing on the 1st and 2nd D pairs. Some teams, yes. But on the whole, the material differences are when you get used in super difficult roles on many axes at once (think prime Vlasic), when you spend a ton of time with your own top Forward Line (Provorov back in the day), and whether you have the super sheltered 3rd Pairing role where you have the combo of your own Forwards high in the lineup but also opposing Bottom 6ers.

And I think we’ve had this discussion before, but who your partner is determines so much of this. Ryan Lindgren is a good, solid player. He’s not a top pairing guy by metrics or traditional stats. You would look at those and see a 2nd pairing guy. He’s also more than fine on the Rangers’ top pair because his partner is Adam Fox.

Tricky situation. He's going to get top line ice time this season and could put up inflated numbers. Could be a big value item at the deadline.
