I love Pastrnak's potential but if he is truly inline to win a first line job that kinda speaks more about the Bruins then it does him.

Why would you say that? There is an opening on the Lucic-Krejci line after the departure of Iginla. Those in line to get that spots are: Loui or any other player in camp that show they can produce top-6 numbers next to them.

Logical choice is Loui. He's a top line player and we know he'll end up challenging Krejci for the leading scorer on the team if he's on that line.

But what if a player, Pastrnak or any other, show they can contribute top-6 numbers while allowing Loui to stay with the Yeti and totally dominate other team bottom-6? Especially if it makes the team better?

But in the end, I would be surprise if Loui ain't next to Krejci-Lucic for game 1 and that opening wing spot is next to Yeti-Kelly. Pastrnak could fit nicely there. If not, Fraser/Gagne/Spooner/Koko/etc are next in line for that top-9 winger spot.

Marchand, Smith, and Seguin had legit top 6ers ahead of them though. Kessel I don't remember as well coming up, but didn't he play with Krejci that first year as a rookie line?

I think Lou's point is if Pastrnak is in line to win the first line job, that means A. Loui hasn't performed on that line as we hoped and B. No one "NHL ready" has been able to take the next step

Or C, keeping Loui with the Yeti makes the Bruins a better team than putting him next to Krejci-Lucic.

That's the best case scenario for me. If someone show in camp they can contribute top-6 numbers next to Krejci-Lucic and allow Loui to stay with the Yeti so the team has two top-6 players on each of their top-3 lines:

Krejci-Lucic
Bergy-Marchand
Yeti-Loui

Fill in the rest with Smith/Gagne/Pastrnak/Fraser/Spooner/Koko/Caron/etc.

Then the remaining players on that list would fight for the last spot next to Campbell-Paille and for the right to sit in the press box as the 13th F.

exactly and I remember reading that Chia/Cam/CJ like the model of putting two guys that click together and filling in the third on each and every line.

What's up with Looch and the visor?

Maybe being a father has made him more concerned about his own health?

I wish they all wore visors. I see McQuaid wearing foot protectors and I want to smack him upside the head. Eyes are a lot more important than feet!

.

That's kind of what I was thinking with A. Loui didn't perform as well as we hoped with Krejci and Lucic.

I think the ultimate hope is for Loui to return to first line form on the first line and have whomever fill next to Soderberg. Chia has stated Loui is pencilled in for the first line, fans have known Loui was brought here to be a top 6er, etc.

The hope is that we can have a question mark on our third line, not our first.

No idea, he looks so different.

Like others have said, maybe family, maybe he's just going to wear it in practice in case anything freak happens... Whatever. I personally think they should be mandatory.

Inside source says ordered by Chia and Cam for all players:sarcasm:

Jacobs made them pay the tax and S&H, though :sarcasm:

I think you guys need to open your minds to the possibility that this kid is just damn good. IMO, if he makes it, it will be because he forced their hand with such a strong camp/pre-season.

I just saw Pastrnak on NESN. He always has a big smile on his face. Looks like he is really enjoying himself here.

I am looking forward to seeing how he looks with the big boys.

His is (and looks) so young.

Funny kid:

– David Pastrnak displayed his excellent puck-handling skills in drills. He was asked about playing alongside fellow Czech Republic forward David Krejci and replied, “(Krejci) signed for six years, so I have seven years to make the team.â€

According to Hab fans, Looch is wearing a visor because he's afraid of Weise and Emelin.

Oh I've missed the delusion!

Meanwhile, what do you do on an evening in Boston with a teen-aged teammate? You school him at bowling of course. :D

So following this logic, the Bruins should have dumped Bergeron following his concussion, since he had a "piece of crap performance" in the aftermath, and anyone who believes otherwise is a homer.
:handclap:You Tell 'im!

And this is where this conversation ends.

You want to debate the Eriksson trade? Take it to the appropriate thread.

This one is about captain's practice.

I'm not sure if I like Lucic in a visor, if it's true.
I understand the eye debate and respect opinions on it but as an occasional fighter and general bad ass it's going to be tough to see him wearing it.
Curious if Thorty was still here if he would be wearing it, I'm sure he would say something being as he is so vocal.
On the other hand I look at it as he may not have to fight the goons of the league because the visor signifies talent not poor skating tough guy who gets 3 min. a game.
I'll have to watch every game this year to get use to it, a couple of live games aswell just so I can get use to it. (Understanding wife)

Maybe Looch doesn't want to end up like Bryan Berard? Maybe he's had issues with his contact lenses and is trying to avoid those? Does anyone really think this will make him less tough?!? :shakehead

According to Amalie Benjamin, Söderberg and Fraser make their first appearances at informals. Z, Loui and Bergeron back today after missing today.

Benjamin also mentioned this;
@AmalieBenjamin: Here's my thought: If you're Jordan Caron or Ryan Spooner or Alexander Khokhlachev, why are you not here at informal practices?

Is there some sort of concrete reason as to why those three *can't* be there that I'm missing?

I mean I understand the vets with logistics, their own training scheuldes ect.....but if I'm a rookie looking to make the impression on the team, the players and the organization, I'd be there before the doors open.

IMO, of course.

Not sure to be honest. Like I said, if you're looking to make the team...you better get your ass there.

Unless they didn't get the invite? Don't see why they wouldn't...but it is a captains invite informal practice. Same with Knight, if you want to make a push to be on the team..you better do all you can to get your ass there.

you are forgetting rule #3

A man can't see, he can't skate.
