Jays really like to acquire players with an extra year of team control. I don't think they'll actually go out and get Rodon. Thor is a little bit different because the Jays should be able to get him cheaper given the size of his contract and diminished results.
Probably something like the cost to acquire a rental is 80% the cost of getting the extra control so we are better off to pay a little more to get the extra year.

there’s enough infield flexibility that you trade for Happ both Tapia and Zimmer stay. Tapia does become pretty useless at that point as there’s an offensive 4th outfield in front of him and a defensive/fast 6th outfielder behind him. Might as well keep him for injury protection rather than roster Collins

The only thing with Collins is we do need that 3rd catcher given how often we DH Kirk and how injury-prone Danny is.

If Jansen gets injured, Moreno comes back up.

I think Moreno has a better chance of being on the playoff roster over Collins anyway. Better defensively and a better overall hitter. The only reason he's not there now is so he can keep getting playing time.

I'd rather Moreno get that experience than Collins as well.

I think it's probably best for his development if he keeps starting in the minors right now.
He's already come up and held his own, he's the best option. If Jansen gets injured, he's playing everyday. He's a better defensive option than Collins as well.

if Kirk is DHing and Jansen gets hurt mid game then we lose the DH and we have whoever the 4th OF is and Tapia to pinch hit for the pitcher twice. If it happened in the 2nd inning then oh well you tell whoever is starting to go up and not swing the bat for a plate appearance or 2. Having Collins for that unlikely scenario is rather pointless. If he was good at anything I might have a different opinion but he’s not. Give me the extra outfielder

when the game is over Moreno comes up, Collins could come up at that point if you didn’t want to use Moreno for some weird reason

Red Sox adding potential gold glover Eric Hosmer to their stellar team defence is just a cherry on top of a good day.

Wasnt a big fan of this trade. Thought Groshans would get us something better but when you take a deeper dive, it starts to make sense though it still might be a slight overpayment;

Didnt realize how great of a season Bass is having and that he has a club option for next year worth $3M, dirt cheap.

bWAR;
Manoah: 3.3
Bass 1.6
Gausman: 1.4
Romano: 1.4
Stripling: 1.3

fWAR:
Gausman: 3.8
Manoah: 2.5
Stripling: 1.9
Bass: 1.4
Romano: 0.6

Top Pitch Velo - mph:
Romano: 96.6
Pop: 96.5
Bass: 95.2

Gausman: 95.0
Kikuchi: 94.8
Garcia: 94.7

Bass is a legit arm to add now and Pop has some long term value with heat he throws and the slider.

Also wonder Barger gets the call to take Groshans' spot.
