thor would be a good pickup, and who knows maybe walker corrects or helps him get back to a respectable place and re ups ala ray for a 1 year deal

with all the banter of rodon declining his player option i would rather give up a late second early 3rd pick rather then empty the farm for a guy who will test the market anyway if you want him you take a run in the offseason.

I was going to say man what a crappy deadline and then I realized it doesn't end at 3 et like the NHL one does.

Still plenty of time.

Happ to the Jays now? Also add in Thor and Iglesias and call it a day

Happ suitors dodgers got gallo Phillies got marsh

Didnt know Marsh was available, would have been perfect for us.

Wonder if the deal will include Thor or not, it was reported a little bit ago that the Phillies were interested.

Never mind seems to be just for Marsh.

I'm not going to complain about a team in playoff position actually trying to win. Good for them. Makes sense to try and win a round now that it's been expanded and easier than before.

3B is his likely long-term position. But we have Chapman for 1 more year and who knows if Orelvis Martinez ends up a 3B long term or not. We also drafted Tucker Toman who profiles as a long-term 3B.

They likely could extend Chapman for a few more years and let the prospects develop and see what they have. But Groshans has zero power for 2 seasons, so he would not have been ready to replace Chapman in a year either way.
Fangraphs has Groshans with the same FV as Leo Jimenez and Josh Kasevich.

Some names that are Rule 5 eligible this offseason

AAA: Spencer Horwitz, Samad Taylor, Tanner Morris, Adrian Hernandez, Brandon Eisert, Jackson Rees

AA: Orelvis Martinez, Addison Barger, Yosver Zulueta, Adam Kloffenstein, Alejandro Melean, Sean Mellen, Luis Quinones

A+: Roither Hernandez, Naswell Paulino, Abdiel Mendoza

A: Gabriel Martinez, Eric Pardinho

Not a ton of talent but I'd imagine some of these guys would be on the chopping block for last minute deals.
