That's a little misleading because CBJ just recently traded away a lot of their good players.

Since CBJ beat Buffalo on Feb. 28th:

CBJ trades away:
Nyquist
Korpisalo
Gavrikov
Voracek
Quick

This is a team that traded away almost all of their producing players recently. So it's not really that impressive, especially not thread worthy.
Quick was a Blue Jacket the same way Datsyuk was a Coyote.

Plus calling Quick a good player?

Not saying he's a good player.

Just mentioning all the players they traded away since February 28th.

What did they get back? Draft picks basically.

The draft picks didn't contribute against the Sens last game unfortunately.

With Talbot as you No1? Sure about that?

I'm pretty sure this team made the playoffs with goalies like Damian Rhodes, Ron tugnutt, ray Emery, martin Gerber, Patrick lalime, Brian elliott, etc. Doesn't take a top level starter to make the playoffs or win rounds.

Alright, good troll. And none of those Blue Jackets played in the Buffalo game either, so wtf are you talking about? Nyquist/Voracek are hurt, Merzlikins started, Gavirkov was scratched for a trade, Quick LOL

You’re right.

Every team that beats the 32nd place Blue Jackets will waltz into the playoffs.

They've got a very difficult schedule, especially down the stretch. These are their last 16 games:

Carolina x2
Toronto x2
Tampa x2
Boston
New Jersey
Colorado
Edmonton
Pittsburgh
Florida x2
Buffalo
Columbus
Philadelphia

8 of 16 those games are against the top 5 teams in the east. Only 5 games against non-playoff teams, and 3 of those are against Florida and Buffalo.

They need to make hay while they can.
that's only a good thing, makes them well prepared for the play-offs, get tough opponents to face, beat the odds and make it to the play-offs,
face the same opponents in the play-offs; been there done that, recipe for success?

sure it can go either way, but teams always should take a tough schedule as a opportunity to improve your game and learn.

A tough schedule doesn't help a team make the playoffs. Teams needing wins would prefer weaker opponents.

Remember when you said the devils early record was only good because of an easy schedule? While you were laughably wrong about NJ, you weren't wrong that it's easier to win games against bad teams.

Everything started coming together for the Ottawa Senators with them seeming to attract Ryan Reynolds's leadership.

Marvel and Disney always wins.

Him owning the Ottawa Senators will be them becoming a true fan favourite.

There will be millions (or billions) of the Asian market wearing Ottawa Senators merchandise, not knowing what they are supporting but are 100% behind the Sens.

We're not making the playoffs unless a miracle happens.

But, it's a great stepping stone for the kids to get into some late season battles and focus on playing more competitive hockey. It will help a lot for next season, when we hopefully have a healthy roster and make a real push for a wildcard spot.

The problem with Ottawa making it is that they need TWO of Pitt, NYI, and Buffalo to do worse than them and both Florida AND Washington to do worse. That's a tall order. I think I saw a projection that had them around 30%. That sounds about right for now, but ti could fall pretty rapidly with something as simple as a three game losing streak

Ottawa have been better than all of them for the last 3 months, I don't think it's that tall of an order. Pittsburgh probably gets in, but the Sens are still only 1 game back of Buffalo and the Islanders. If they keep playing like they have been they should be able to get in.

Also, they don't need Florida and Washington to be worse, they just can't be any better than Ottawa.

I had to check when was the last time they have made the playoffs. They actually have 2 playoff series wins for last 10 years. 2 more than Toronto Mighty Leafs

They actually have 3 series wins in the last 10 seasons.

Beat the Habs (in more ways than one) in the 2013 playoffs. Bruins and Rangers in 2017.

So 3 more playoff wins than the Leafs :D

They will waltz as fast out of the playoffs as they waltzed in.
And that's ok. We're in the last stages of a rebuild so meaningful games was the goal: mission accomplished. Anything else is gravy.

The thread isn't only about beating the Bluejackets though.

I still think they barely miss, but it's good for their development to be in this race. That series against Detroit showed they weren't playing around.
