Again, what on earth are you talking about?

They have a depth issue, not high end talent issue.
You are telling me they can’t rebuild their depth?

Changing Staal& Gudas into actual usefull players won’t make a difference?
Lundell developing more won’t make a difference?

You must have thought Boston was done for good when they had to retool and Bergeron/Krejci were around 30
Imagine thinking this team in Florida is anything like Boston. Where players have a championship pedigree and are taking less money. What on earth are you talking about is the question.

It's very hard to replace your depth when you have nothing to aquire it with. UFA's don't come cheap. They'll have to find a way to dump Bob if they want to seriously address the depth. Who's taking that contract?

If the Sens had Gustavsson over Talbot, they probably make the playoffs.
No one disagrees with that.

If you look at the young talent within the sens organization and this is your takeaway then you probably don’t know too much about hockey.
I mean look at the thread. Plenty of that going around.

What goes around comes around though. After the back to back stompings of the Wings, your fanbase was trolling the Wings non-stop, poking fun at everything in the organization. Not only was it your fanbase, your actual players decided to start trolling the Wings too. Maybe Brady shouldn't do that stupid muscle-man pose right in Walman's face in a 6-1 game next time? Just a thought for Brady, because when you guys were winning, you were on cloud 9.

Now you're losing, and other fanbases are enjoying giving you a little taste of your own medicine. So yeah, it's funny. It's funny how the Sens were buyers at the deadline, and the Wings completely sold, yet there's a good chance we finish ahead of you in the standings 🤣

Next time your team wins a couple big games, try winning with class, and maybe the rest of the league won't snicker at you when you start to get embarrassed on the ice.
Why are you throwing the rest of the league in this. They didn't care what happened between Ottawa and Detroit.

The only payback that will be done for that will have to be by Detroit.

You can't take credit for the payback when it's done by other teams. Nice try though! ;)

I mean, we talking current day roster? I have no problem admitting that today's Sens roster is better (although the Standings suggest it's extremely close). Your forwards are deep, I'll give you that. Stutzle is an absolute game-breaking stud (just dives a bit too much). Tkachuk is a dominant power forward (who needs to learn to win with class.) Kinda ironic with all the show-boating that he does considering he's never won anything. Giroux has played like a monster this year. The Norris injury was unfortunate too, he's a nice player. Then you have Mr. Team Canada World Juniors legend Drake Batherson as well, but his +/- would make most PGA golfers enviable, and well his *alleged* off ice issues are pretty disgusting.

Your prospect cupboard is empty though. We have tons of studs coming, and 6 picks this year before you even make 1 in the 4th round. You didn't have a first rounder last year, don't have one again this year, and you wasted your 10th overall pick in 2021 on a scrub. I have no doubt in my mind we will reach where we want to reach before you do. Pierre is building to squeak into the playoffs, Yzerman doesn't give a shit about squeaking in, he's building for a Cup.

I will enjoy watching our 2 teams go head to head in the coming years, and I have no doubt in my mind Detroit is a contender before Ottawa.

You too! Enjoy missing the playoffs yet again, and looking forward to your 4th round pick.

Lol someones upset. Jesus Christ. Did the sens beating the shit out of your team really anger you that much that you're waiting for a thread about the sens to go "HA" and then throw in shade at batherson when there isn't any proof of any wrong doing yet and you talk about tkachuks class?

The point is they have a 27y franchise C locked up at 10M for the next 7+ seasons. That’s going to be cheap moving forward.

Or do you think Barkov isn’t good enough to be a 1C on a good team?

They have a 25y franchise locked up at 9.5M for the next 7+ years. That’s going to be extremely cheap moving forward.
Or do you think Thachuk isn’t good enough to be a teams 1W?
On top of it they have Lundell/Bennett/Duclair/Verhaeghe/Reinhart.

So you have 2 franchise forwards in their primes for under market value already yet you think everyone will go for max money to be a Panther?
Which of Reinhart/Bennett/Duclair/Verhaeghe contract is max market value?

Florida has become one of the most wanted teams for players to play in and they have gotten players with cheap contracts and Zito has found absolutely steals way below the market value in Forsling, Verhaeghe, Duclair, Bennett.

So your points make zero sense.

They were always going to have a down year with the insane buy outs they have this year+ Bobs contract.
Bob won’t finish his deal in Florida

How convenient to ignore 'The rebuild is over.'

Listen man, unlike you, I don't have qualms about speaking in direct terms. When a general manager says that the rebuild is over, I'm expecting his team to make the playoffs. Period. Anything else is a colossal failure. Let alone downplaying expectations the year after saying that.

So, let's see, what we have thus far is:

'The rebuild is over.' - Proceeds to miss the playoffs for the next two years.
'Play in meaningful games' before the beginning of this year. Proceeds to be, for all intents and purposes, out of the playoff race in November.

At least I don't defend my trash. Not sure why you're so hellbent on defending yours but it is entertaining on a slow Thursday afternoon.

You're confusing the rebuild stage with the build stage.

Rebuild implies trading off assets in order to suck to get the highest draft picks.

The sens are done doing that. They gave the assets..now it's just about developing those assets. That isn't the definition of a REbuild.

Florida has no defense, goaltending, prospects, and first-round picks until 2026 and also happens to play in the toughest divisions in the NHL. It's really not that far-fetched to think that the Panthers will be a one-and-done team (President's trophy season) and will likely continue to regress over the coming years while everyone in the Atlantic gets stronger.

Tkachuk is good value. Barkov is right on par. The rest of the team is all very very average. So no my point doesn't make zero sense every player you listed there is in their prime. In general they are a very bad defensive team.

You're counting on the destination and players taking discounts as how they'll improve. Not impossible I won't disagree the weather and no state tax helps. But it's all hypothetical. I won't say it's impossible but stating it as fact isn't accurate either. If you are unwilling to acknowledge any of this then don't bother continuing the discussion.

Bottom line is they have no assets to improve the depth and very little cap space. If the cap goes up and they find a way to get rid of Bob (again who's taking that contract). Then yes they can improve by signing UFA's. That's a big if and it's the only path. So stop saying my point makes zero sense.

This has been said for years now. Still waiting
No it hasn't... The young players are actually at the age where they can contribute. They are substantially better than last year. What are you talking about....

Lol for years? Stutzle still on entre level contract...Sanderson's rookie year...

Someone has been fuming waiting for them to fail. Why do the sens get in your head so much?

It’s been the last few years… this is the year… this is the year. Maybe next year? They went out and got Giroux and Debrincat cause this was the year right.

At some point Ottawa needs to start winning. We have been hearing about all this young talent for years, but yet still with zero results.
Kind of an ironic comment to make considering your username,

Are you serious bruh? Can't believe that you have the gall to call out sens fans for having some optimism coming out of a rebuild when the leaf fans on this website plan the parade every single November and troll every single senator thread despite how few of them there are.

They were both drafted 3 years ago. Norris Batherson Pinto all drafted 4-6 years ago. This rebuild has been terrible. Fuming at what? Having the Sens be irrelevant? I’d rather they be good so the battle of Ontario can exist again. That was fun.

They def would be lookin prettier right now if they kept Gustavsson.

What was the plan with Dorion moving him? Did he really think Talbot would be the answer for a few years?

Of course gotta change topics to the leafs. Typical. I’ll be the first to say the Leafs playoff success is putrid. I’ll also say the Sens rebuild had been putrid. They are way behind. Should be a power house by now

Everyone in Atlantic gets stronger?

If you haven't noticed Boston is having all-in year and they'll lose so much talent after this year.

Tampa are out of their draft picks and they have expensive extensions already signed and Killorn's good contract is over. They'll have 10 NHL level players Point, Kuch, Stammer, Cirelli, Serga, Hed, Černak, Hagel, Paul and Vasi and the rest 10 players will be AHL level.

Then there are teams like Detroit and Ottawa who ended their tanking too early so their core just isn't good enough to be actually good team. More like Philadelphia in last decade.

Toronto will stay same, Florida and Buffalo will improve
