Maybe was asking him about Colin Blackwell since he's shopping for a 4C, getting some background before making an offer in UFA?

I don't see the Skinner thing atoll.
Not too physical, not great at FO, not sure. Maybe they were talking about Dickinson or Murphy, who knows.

Maybe I don't know what he has in mind. Is it so bad to live in Chicago? Or does he have to live near Canada or in Canada to be near his relatives. We'll just have to pay more then for Chicago to not only take over his contract but also buyout him.
He wouldn’t waive from Carolina except for Buffalo or Toronto.

Why?

This is a 2-5 year old card btw. Blackwell is 31 now.

Dickinson has been a long-term wish for me. Shedding Skinner may be mostly fantasy, but I have thought about him and Chicago before this weekend.

I wonder if they'd take Krebs, Skinner, and a lesser prospect like Marjala for Dickinson. Vet scorer to ride shotgun with or take pressure off Bedard for a year or two before a retained trade to a contender. Young Canadian center with some upside to add into Bedard's future posse.

Dickinson and a FA like Stenlund become our bottom 6 centers. That's a much more "professional" set up than we've had in years. Dickinson, Stenlund, and Will Carrier could all be on the books for the same $9M as ol' Jeff.

Would Jeff waive is obv the question? Maybe he's ready to venture out of his preferred hunting grounds in Toronto, there's plenty of wild game in Chicago too 😅

It's not a given that Skinner will be involved in the deal, and it wouldn't be easy to do. Maybe they were just discussing Dickinson for futures/Krebs+, since we obviously need 3C.

Chicago already moved up in the first round once. They are probably eyeing our 11th overall.

My interest:

Jason Dickinson
Connor Murphy

We send them Jokiharju back and they get 11 with a swap of picks.

Retention would be nice, but not required.

(Chicago using 1 retained salary)

Dickinson yes, but I'm not sure about Murphy. I think he would have been a good addition a few years ago, but now he's more of a third pair guy (something like Clifton). I think we could do better.

Our top players need to be better and we need to get better players.

But I also wonder: why do we need another top 6 forward? (Highly rumored)

Skinner can't be on the 3rd line. So we have
Skinner - Thompson - Tuch
Peterka - Cozens - Quinn

Lance mentioned Quinn getting moved to the third line. Or do they want to move Tuch to the third line? I just don't buy it.

I just keep going back to that they are getting rid of Skinner. :crossfing

His jersey has strangely been on deep discount all offseason. Starting to wonder if Pegula has the balls but I doubt it

Why can't Skinner be on the third line? I think he played third line at times in Carolina and still produced. I don't really think we have any elite wingers in the team who should definitely play on the first line, but you can also create three strong lines. It's much worse when you have two lines and the third line is when Mitts is struggling with Olofsson and whoever else was playing, Asplund, Jost and whoever else.

Quinn will be that elite winger if he can stay healthy. You can just see the skill level in him. It's a shame he's been battling injuries every season so it's not as apparent.

I agree, Quinn and Benson could potentially be elite for me. But I'm talking specifically about now, we don't have those players, so I don't see a problem with Skinner playing on the third line or anyone else, it doesn't mean that line is going to play 12 minutes per game.

Ok, hear me out, Chicago’s rebuild just started, so they may have some desire to get younger. The Sabres have a really nice group of young D, but their skills sets, styles and handedness are a little redundant.

Power + <-> Jones +

I assume the plus from Buffalo is significant, but man oh man, would that straighten out the D corps.

We get older, worse and a worse contract.

I'll pass

He will be in very short order. Possibly this year.
I mean, his underlyings suggest a nearly elite level transition defenseman with high level defensive impacts. His offensive impacts tempered by a poor shot, but geez, the dude, paired with Dahlin would be one of, if not the, best d-pairing in the league.

I haven't liked Jones game since he was 24 or 25.
