I mentioned his name earlier but if the Rangers don't re-sign him I really hope Adams goes for Jack Roslovic for 3C as he is entering UFA so it wouldn't cost us any assets. I know people on pining on Bennett but I don't see Florida letting him go and he will be a cheaper resign once they locked up Reinhart.
I think I'd rather have Wennberg than Roslovic, even though Wennberg basically was non-existent in the playoffs.

I think there are better options than either though.

Maybe we shouldn't? Even in UFA there will probably be more interesting options, not to mention trade.

Thats over 3 years, he really turned a corner in NY this season. His previous two seasons defiantly don't help. Too me seeing him this year he really found his game.

@NotABadPeriod Wennberg lost his game. Roslovic found his. One is aging like milk the other is aging like wine.

Of course it could be an outlier season but its a chance I would be willing to take especially since I think Roslovic comes in under 6.

No, these are not 3 year old metrics, these are recent ones. I think if they use Skinner on the 3rd line, we need a 3C who is responsible for defense. Because a Skinner - Roslovic 3rd line would be damn bad. Roslovic doesn't even play a physical game.

Why does the infographic say the data is 3 year weighted?

I have no idea, but he constantly updates his charts. There is a season curve there, and Roslovic couldn't play defense and still can't, same with his physical form.

The eye test this year especially in the playoffs I don't really see it. I did in the past but his increased play came with moving to right wing which is my legitimate worry as we need a center. He's still an option that won't cost this off season.

I don't know who needs to read this but...

You aren't going to get an 80% WAR 3C who is tough to play against, can put up 40 points and is a shut down defender night in and night out. Teams just aren't trading that unless for a massive overpay and they aren't coming in under 6. Every single player mentioned like Morgan Frost will have their warts. You can dissect every single player mentioned and its going to come down to, what can you live with?

Well, I don't like the Roslovic option, that's all. We have assets and it's easier to get a 3C than a top 6C. Teams trade such players, not all of them, but they do.

Is Colton Sissons for example, better than Roslovic for us? He's better on defense, he plays a physical game, he's better at FO. Whether Nashville will trade him, I don't know, but you can always ask. We need a guy who's at least average on defense, and it would be an added bonus if he plays a tough game.

Well, yeah, like always.

Well, Lance literally confirmed in this video that Adams is looking for a top 6 forward.

I think they can't rely only on kids, also you should always have insurance in case of injuries and regression of players.

Although I think that 3C is of course a priority, I wouldn’t turn down a top 6 forward or a top 9 forward like Coleman, Haula or someone like that.
Coleman or Haula would be fine. They aren't the types of player i was referring to in my OP.

Haula particularly would be a great signing. I've thought he'd be a good fit since his time playing in Minnesota.

Well these guys are Swiss knives, they can play any position and any line. I also like Buch, if he didn't cost that much, even a year's rent would make sense.

Yeah probably but all I'm saying is Colton has his own warts, if that's what you can live with then so then be it but its impossible to check all the boxes and make everyone happy.

It just won't happen.

I hate how the media keeps linking us with Necas, I think if/when Adams makes a move for a center its going to be a solid hockey trade for someone none of us thought was available and the pieces going the other way will probably hurt.

Buffalo has a deep prospect pool and think they will give up slot for the carriage before it turns into a pumpkin
Necas makes no sense for us. He isn't the type of player we need. It makes no sense for Carolina. We can't give them what they want. It also makes no sense for the player. The main reason he wants out of Carolina is he wants an increased role / responsibility.... which we can't give him.

I'm sick of seeing people talk about prototypical 'top 6' or 'skill' players. This isn't what we need. Short of a fantasy land trade for Tkachuk - i have no interest in changing the top of the lineup.
Tkachuk is differrnt because of being a physical power F type who had ofg skill. Those are a fifty cstegory.

Necas is Mitts 2.0

I'm fine with wennberg on a 2 yr deal. He can play C. Roslovic isnt that

NJ isnt trading Haula unless he was a Ruff guy the team didnt wamt.

I can tolerate Coleman. I'd want some retention to $3.5M-$4M

Chain used to make fun of Roslovic when people asked for Jenner every time.
If we want to pick up a center from the rangers Wennberg would be a better choice.

My running joke with @Viqsi and the rest of the Columbus faithful to step into any Jenner thread with "So Jack Roslovic then?" got a lot of use. More poking at the Jackets statements that Jenner isn't going anywhere and Roslovic being the next likely candidate for those shoppers.

Who meets those stats as a3C?

Of course everyone has them, but I prefer Sissons type player to Roslovic type.

Saw this on one of Sabres forum. I don't know why, but I trust this more than HockeyBuzz or that guy in Philly video.

FWIW, and I know at least one poster doesn’t think it’s worth much, but after a few conversations over the weekend, I am 100% convinced that the Sabres will make a big splash in the coming weeks. Something along the likes of Danault, Jenner. Eriksson EK. And it won’t stop there.

The hire of Ruff was significant but the real notice of intent was the hiring of Pete Guelli. Ruff had some leverage but Guelli is a rising star and doesn’t sign on without some significant guarantees.

TPegs was not in Buffalo to discuss draft prospects. He was here to agree to the monetary ramifications of the pending moves.

I notice his career faceoff stats are nad when he does play center. Can't see Adams targeting him when he keeps talking about faceoffs.

I have to admit I see that name the first time, has this even been discussed here? What they tell about him sounds good, but it's not like he turned the giants around?

If Buffalo pries Eriksson EK out of Minnesota, we would have potentially the nastiest center spine in the NHL but hes got a NMC and NTC while signed for 5 more years at a sweetheart rate. I can't see Minnesota parting with him unless we are willing to give up Savoie + + and even then he has to want to come here.

Also Pete Guelli is the COO of the Sabres and Bills.. why does he have any impact on the building of the actual hockey team?

This poster has some pretty damn good kool-aid tho

Well, that's from another Sabres forum, it may or may not be nonsense. I think we'll see it soon.

I think it will be very difficult to get Ekk out of there, considering their center depth and how much they love him. It seems his M-NTC and NMC don't go into effect until July 1st, there's still time. But for me the main thing is not that, the main thing is that Terry gave the go-ahead to spend, so we'll see if that's true or not.
