Santeri Hatakka​

He was impressive with his defensive play and can hit. A 24 year old Fin who plays the boards a little.

Omg, I forgot Hatakka. He does seem like the most obvious replacement. Defensive dman, LHD, played last year in the top 4 and would be closer to Siegs than flipping Pesce to his off hand + calling up Nemo

Yep and I can’t even remember the last time we won a shootout.

Gutty win. Huge 2 points at this moment. In the context of this race right now and what we are going through it can’t be overstated. Pure gut check holding them off in the third and some of the overtime saves too. And Jacks breakaway as OT expired.

Hope Siegs will be back after the break. Although he was unable to put serious weight on it coming off he didn’t seem in excruciating pain like it was broken. If it’s hyperextended (sprained) one hopes it’s not a high ankle sprain because those linger more.

I think a reasonable solution is to either

A. Make ot 3 on 3 10 min then a shootout

or

B. Once brought into the offensive zone you can’t bring it back to the neutral zone. If that happens a face off happens in the offending teams zone.

Yea Siegs is f***ed.

Atrocious game today, glad they got the win but they were ass. Stop using Jack and Bratt in the shootout. Daw was solid in the shootout aside from the second goal when he got deked bad.

For the love of god find a a top 6 player to get.

And likely a 7th d so we aren't trying to experiment with d on their offsides like we did on October, which worked horribly.

The extra 5 mins would really cut down on the amount of shootouts but I think the neutral zone thing is something that doesn't need to be messed with. Sure players circle back but there's numerous times, our team included where that causes a turnover and leads to scoring chances. That part isn't something that needs to be fixed to me.

Pretty fitting who scored the shootout winner that night and tonight. Almost virtually the same shot too but went the glove side tonight

Anyone expecting anything other than grind it out survival hockey from the current iteration of this group while losing their best shutdown Dman early in a game is in for a very disappointing time.

Unfortunately they aren’t going to do anything better than 50/50 hockey most nights until they have a semblance of a healthy group down the center. Nico is a massive loss and even if we had better bottom 6 depth, its basically impossible to replace what he provides.

Its about gathering points until then.

Was out tonight so missed game. Seemed like a meh game but glad they got the 2 points.

Sucks about Siegs. I would say bring up Nemec and someone else plays on their off hand. But I completely forgot about Hatakka. If he is ready to go, you play him.

Pretty even game. Pens goals were a wraparound and on a 4 v 4

Devils goals were a net mouth scramble and also a 4 v 4

HORRIBLE officiating tho

How the hell we get close again to the the Canes?

I thought they had a bigger gap on us...

We ain't there yet, but if we can squeeze out at least another 2 pts or 3pts over the next 2 games.... I'll be happy. Hopefully see Nico the 1st back after the break.

Probably that 1st season psyched him on it too much. I remember that first season some early SO pressure points on a season that fell apart. Same with 2nd season went badly with injuries. Think the team should just give Jack a break on the SO for a few attempts, let him chill, Jagr style.

I remember some pressurized home SOs in his first two seasons. Jack was last shooter and we lost on his stick... (A few times)

He has too much time on a shootout. On a breakaway he has someone chasing him so it’s in with speed, one move and a shot. In a shootout he goes slow tries to make too many moves and over stick handles.

He two attempts this year have been with more speed and the first one was good even though he missed.
