TBF the low overall number was because of massive competition with college football and Payback, but the losing 88K off the Punk announcement is hard to spin as a write off or a good thing.

If WBD is still willing to shell out then its whatever for the health of AEW, but I just don't get that timeslot. Saturday night is for sports, it's not going to ease up when CB is done as you get NFL games late in the season on Saturday. Then hockey and basketball, never mind UFC PPVs and WWE PLEs.

It's never going to pull big numbers.

Honestly part of me thinks it would have been smarter to just cancel Rampage and run Collision head to head with Smackdown. It wouldn't beat SD obviously, but I think it would still pull 600k plus on Friday night prime time.

My 2 cents thinking outside the box. Get rid of Rampage and Make Collision either a Saturday Morning(say like 10 AM) or Saturday at 6:00 PM show. Probably just a case I am thinking what worked in the 80s could work now, But I would be interested to see if a show can find audiences in "traditional" wrestling hours.

Saturday, especially in the evening,is a terrible day with College Football back.Factor in MLB starting their playoffs in a few weeks and Aew's ratings will fall even more.

I actually like the idea of the morning show. It would be a time just when people get up or been up for a hour or 2, but just before afternoon sports begin. You sort of pandering to people who may be watching TV at a time that normally nothing is on.

Maybe just make dynamite longer since rampage is filmed minutes after dynamite ends.

Then move Collision to Thursdays?

3 hours ruined Raw for me, it just got to much.

Maybe Tony Kahn can do a show like Tuesday Night Titans(from the 80s). lol

To be fair wasn't the prior week one of the worst Smackdown ratings in awhile or was that a couple weeks ago? Actually I wanted to be correct so I searched and yes it was last week.

  • August 18, 2023: 2.233 million viewers (preliminary), 2.094 million viewers (final)
  • August 25, 2023: 2.505 million viewers (preliminary), 2.647 million viewers (final)
  • September 1, 2023: 2.28 million viewers (preliminary), 2.443 million viewers (final)
  • September 8, 2023: 1.969 million viewers (preliminary), 2.094 million viewers (final)

Side note: AEW consistently puts MJF in the middle of the show, the ratings tank after his segment, they drop all the way into the mid 700Ks for the main event segment.

WWE consistently puts Roman Reigns in the main event segment of Smackdown when he's available and pops that quarter by 200K - 300K.

... It makes me laugh how Tony Khan was recently "Booker of the year", while regularly laying out his show to progressively lose 150K - 200K viewers.

People voted on that. That wasn’t named arbitrarily by Dave. That’s always going to slant anti-WWE because most of those subscribers thinks they’re too cool to think otherwise.

Yeah it's paid WON subscribers that vote in Dave's awards and they have a built in anti-wwe slant and also tend to lean towards the stuff Dave and Bryan like.

Though if I remember, Dave was actually pretty critical of the voters in last year's awards and thought they were pretty off the mark and overly bias.

Or their anti-WWE because they appreciate good wrestling.
