Patrick Kane had nowhere near the impact that Toews - Keith - Seabrook and Crawford had on winning those cups. The team wasn't built around Kane....that team would have won cups if they didnt have Patty Cakes.
Okay, now you're just being delusional.

Kane was the single most important player for those 3 runs combined, could argue Keith too. But even if you say Keith was the most important, it wasn't "Nowhere near"

Hope Bedard is okay. I hate big open ice hits to the head but thought this one was clean.

I am also learning, from this thread, that NHL players are not allowed to play with other good NHL players. It is unfair for an excellent player to play with other excellent players.

The Kane take is an all timer for me!

He's on pace for 31 goals 69 points while being one of the worst defensive players in the league. That's far from generational.
Using the word far is a stretch as he was a generational prospect and an excellent NHLer with a poor supporting cast.

If the NHL had kept the 20 year old draft Bedard would have had the generational tag even by you.

Playing with absolutely nobody, which you seem to forget.
Generational players produce regardless. They don't need excuses. That's part of what makes them generational.

I never saw him as a generational prospect. His production may have suggested it, but he lacked the speed and strength necessary to create the time and space needed to be truly generational at the NHL level.

I'm 50-50 with you.lol

I don't think he's generational and I do think he's damn good! Not stylistically the same but I keep using guys like Kane and J. Hughes as examples of what I think he becomes and I love both those players.

I predicted, at the juniors before he was drafted (even started a thread), that he'd get 60 points in his first season. Reasons I gave were small size, lack of support and it is very hard to play all 82 games in the NHL for a teenager.

I do think he will win all the hardware in his career... ross, rocket, cup.

Bedard goes on IR with a fractured jaw from the Brendan Smith hit last night. Estimate is 6 weeks before he can return. The Calder is now wide open.

Like who? Name one who has produced with 4th liners?

And he is producing.
Bedard should be turning fourth liners into top six forwards if he were generational. He's not generational. Nothing bad about being on MacKinnon level.

Tough game for Bedard tonight. Hope he's okay, he needs to be more careful trying to cut through multiple defenders. He's not big enough nor fast enough to get away with that forever. He had a few close calls this year.
I somehow feel this isn't sincere....
Also wondering if you felt the same when Johnny Boy would try and cut thru multiple defenders.

Bedard on IR with a fractured jaw. Race probably opened up.
This sucks. Honestly, as a Wild fan I appreciate Bedard enough to want to see him flourish and start collecting hardware. Also it would be proof the D I love are elite if they have success shutting him down every game against :)

Crosby scored 100 points playing with not very good players. McDavid had chemistry problems in his first season and still was a PPG player in a very low scoring season.

Hartman is a better player than Kurashev. He broke his jaw anyway. He won’t win now
I disagree. 6 weeks isn't that long and he's already got a big lead on the next closest.
If he can come back by March, there's still 20 ish games to play.

Sort of, I guess, except Bedard isn't 23 years old and the other player on the line, whoever it is at any given time, is much worse than Zucc.
I was just talking generational talent level regardless of age. kaprizov isn't generational either. IDK what everyone's initial expectations were for Zuccy but when we got him I don't think many people around the league were expecting him to produce like a top six guy again.

Just remember a few things hawks fans

McDavid didn't win the Calder (in fact, no Oiler ever has)
Celebrini is coming home!

The NHL is a very tough league for smaller teenagers regardless of how big their legs are, how great their release is or how high their IQ is. What he did last night was reminiscent of what he did to Slovakia in the quarters... darted through the team and scored expect, in the NHL, darting through the team is darting through 3 fully developed men. I hope he keeps darting through guys and being on highlight reels for decades but it's a tough league for teenagers. McDavid got jetskiied into the boards as a teenager.

I think it just let players like Hughes, Faber, Fanitilli, and Rossi back into the race. There is a gap there which will probably be gone and then some by the time he gets back. I would probably still put him winning the Calder at 50/50 when it was like 90/10 before the injury.

I honestly don't know much about him--is Kurashev better than hartman before hartman started to produce on the Wild or better in general--i don't think anyone would know who hartman was if he didn't get first line C duties alongside an elite wing
