Your point makes zero sense.

He wasn’t going to trade up 15 slots for a QB when he had Roth, desperately needed a RB, and had delusions of a Super Bowl.

I severely doubt Tomlin sees MT as anything but a stop gap.

His actions/words in the off-season tell us he covets a new franchise QB. Which is a positive, but there is a ton of smoke around how badly he wants Willis.

So he’s either being sly as a fox, or well…
He didn’t have illusions of a super bowl it’s obvious he and Colbert were ready to move on from Ben but ownership stepped in to bring him back. They extended Mason when they didn’t need to. Ben just crapped himself against Cleveland in the playoffs. Yet he showed up to fields pro day and said let’s show them what you can do and had the same look he had when he looked at Willis. He has met with all the QBs and knows corral will fall he knows Willis isn’t going to fall. He also knows that they have a ton of needs and are in the middle of a retool. Willis Corral and Ridder need to redshirt.

Not that I disagree that they've been treated poorly, but I think AG's should have bigger fish to fry than worry about the NFL
There are plenty of other workplaces that need a cleansing. Seems like a PR stunt

So uh you are straight out wrong.

Tomlin literally talked Butler out of wanting to retire last off-season to chase a ring:

Dude wasn’t trading up to grab a QB - give me a break.

There has been a massive amount of smoke around Tomlin and Willis, just like with Harris last off-season.

Connecting the dots again doesn’t take much effort, but once again Tomlin should be smart enough to know Willis isn’t a guy you mortgage your future for.

Every QB in this draft except for maybe Pickett will need to redshirt.

And I firmly believe they will not trade up for a QB, no matter how much they like Willis or any QB. None of them are worth that kind of draft capital when the team has other needs as well. Plus you throw in that the QB situation this season that could cause them to have a bad season and be picking in the top 10.

They same guy who didn’t even call plays and was a glorified line back coach had to be talked out of retirement ok

Tomlin loved chase young also but not at the price to draft him. Yea if Willis dropped to 20 he would run to the podium no doubt but he isn’t. Last year the team had 4 wr under contract had the entire defense returning and had more draft capital to trade up and he didn’t.
Tomlin if he had is way would have drafted Lamar and not extended Ben after the Jacksonville playoff loss

So basically you took a legit PG article by a legit writer and decided it never happened because… uh, you said so?

Dude wasn’t ever considering drafting a QB in round one last year - he was deluding himself into chasing a ring.

This year is a complete 180 from last year.

It’s become obvious Tomlin wants to find a new franchise guy (good thing), but that may be Willis (99% sure that’s bad).

Pretending to know what he’s thinking is silliness.

We hope he isn’t foolish enough to mortgage the future, but we have zero clue how Tomlin will react in this situation because he’s never been in it before.

I think they traded back and took Hampton. I think it is the one example of them actually trading back and getting additional picks.

Which I wouldn't have a problem with this season. Work the phones, if they can trade back and pick up an additional 2nd or 3rd this season plus an additional first next season, they should do it. Maybe Tampa would want to trade up to pick up a CB or a DL. Or maybe Indianapolis wanting to trade into the first round.

I don’t think they trade out of the 1st but KC will want to come get a WR and jump Greenbay Tampa or Cincinnati will want the best o line men.
If they aren’t paying DJ 22 million a year flip him for picks take Dotson at 20

Speaking of moving around I've seen a few places predict they'll trade back into the late 1st from their 2nd to take a QB.

Tomlin has stated that they are going to fill the 4th QB spot through the draft. Whether that is going to be a guy that they groom as starter soon, or a developmental guy, we don't know. I think if it wasn't for Canada's offensive scheme, I'd say the guy they'd pick is Carson Strong later because the guy has elite talent and they can get great value for where he is going to drop. He has legit starter potential and a team will probably be able to get him in the 4th round because he cannot run and that's not cool in today's NFL.

I think Sam Howell will be the guy though. We will land him in the 2nd round. He can learn under Trubisky (another Tarheel), and be ready to take over in the 24-25 season. Also wouldn't sleep on Ridder. He checks every single box, but didn't pass the eye test for me.

I'm almost to the point where I can't even read more draft takes. Then I watched the Pirates today and dread set in about the 3+ month football deadzone between the draft and pre-season.
The unfortunate part of that whole thing is those 3 months could be filled of pure early-summer bliss if Hillbilly Prince weren't in the picture.

Not going to every go to bat and say Bob Nutting is a good baseball owner but this is such a lazy take.

Every concrete data point we have ever gotten shows they dont make any significant money on yearly operations.

• Forced by MLb to reduce salary because of debt theesholds (Ramirez trade)

• Made 35 million net income over 3 year period (07-09) Average of 11.67 million before taxes.

• At the time hadnt been releasing dividends to owners.

So the difference to breakeven is the FA value of Avasail Garcia or Anthony Descalfani. Doesnt sound like just spend your money will accomplish too much.

I thought Strong was dropping because he has the knees of a 39 year old Ben Roethlisberger.

nothing re-sparks my interest in mock drafts than the imminent dread of watching Pirates baseball

I thought Strong was dropping because he has the knees of a 39 year old Ben Roethlisberger.

He's commented several times that his knee is fine and the talk of it being degenerative are not accurate. He hurt it, had surgery on it, and played last season with a brace rather than sit out, but finished the season without it.

He's dropping because he's had weak combine and pro day performances. His accuracy more than anything seems to have taken a hit. If I had to guess, he's been working on his mechanics and doesn't quite have it down. Still, accuracy issues are bad news.

10 years ago he'd probably still be a first round pick just based off potential. Because he's not highly mobile, he's getting bumped down to a 3rd round grade. Just a sign of the times.

Tons of buzz about Ridder going in the top 15 now.

He seems to be the annual late riser we see every draft.

He was never the most mobile QB, but everything that has come out has said his knees were fine. The procedures he has had, from what I have heard, have been to clean up scar tissue and things like that.
