I bet they told a lot of guys they wanted them.

Whats more likely.

1. A well run NFL front office buckled to public pressure on the most important decision they might ever make.

OR

2. They were interested in Jones just not as much as Lance and he was their backup option if the Jets took Lance instead of Wilson.

Occams razor
You don’t trade up to the third overall pick and tell multiple guys you want them. When you make a deal of that caliber it’s because you have your sights on 1 specific guy and you don’t think they are going to be available when you pick. So yes, I firmly believe they buckled to the pressure and adjusted course

I see many Clown supporters running their mouth. It'll get more quiet once the season starts and things look like ****
Agreed. Not much to look forward to. QB situation is bleh. D is mediocre. Not alot of hype for this season.
Most people expect a 7-9 win season. Meh.

From ESPN

Pittsburgh Steelers

After an uncharacteristically active free agency in Pittsburgh, the Steelers are still on the lookout for safety help. Yes, we hear the chatter about Tyrann Mathieu, who plays with the kind of edge that would seamlessly fit in Pittsburgh. But Pittsburgh also is monitoring Terrell Edmunds, a four-year starter with the Steelers who has yet to sign anywhere. A reunion is not off the table. And a wild-card option is free safety Damontae Kazee, who played for Dallas last season. He is known as a ball hawk who can play multiple spots. The Steelers have him on their radar.

Tomlin and Colbert don’t seem like they’re at Ohio State’s pro day which is kind of interesting. I feel like they’re always at OSU, but Ole Miss is having their’s today so they may be going to look at Matt Corral.

They’re doing a ton of homework on the QBs this draft which makes sense.

That's your opinion, not a fact.
It’s a fact he couldn’t beat out Mason last year and has more starts than Mason they offered him the cheapest tender possible and if he is cut they will have no dead money in 23. If Tomlin wasn’t doing a solid for his agent he wouldn’t be in the nfl

I think it’s WR in round 2 even though we might want a 1st round WR. I do think I might trade DJ for picks and take his clown Dotson instead of paying him 20 million a year

He isn’t getting out of the top 10 so we don’t have to worry about that neither is Pickett maybe we take corral if they draft a QB round 1

It's been a while since I've seen a mock with him going that high. I know his pro day was yesterday(?), and I think I read only 2 head coaches were there. Us and CAR maybe?

I do see QBs finally slipping down to what I'd call sensible picks given the pool available this year.

Yeah John Lynch really seems like he care what twitter has to say about who he drafts.

Give me a break

It really depends on Atlanta Carolina Seattle. Atlanta could easily sell the right handed Mike Vick Pickett was recruited to temple by Rhule and Seattle liked Howell and Willis. Tomlin and Rhule are in old miss watching corral today who Chris simms had QB 1 in this class. Willis and Corral along with Ridder need a redshirt year. None of them should be top 10 picks Pickett would be in front of Jones if he was in last years class. Willis getting the Lance love

The Steeler approach this offseason is great: give out contracts to players in that 24-27 range, where you can still get several good/great years of their prime. To reach for these player close to 30? That is sort of paying for what they did in the past, hoping they still have some of it left when the reality is that they are on the decline.

I like it very much so far, but they have to solve the QB position or it's all for not. Let's see what happens.

I don't agree the D is mediocre. You can't play great D with a crappy offense in 2021. If the O is better, the D will look like it did early in the season last year.

why am i not working for the steelers? some things simply don't make sense

exactly. D is easily top 10 probably top 5 with a competent offense.

Jeremy Fowler reported that the Steelers are interested in Tyrann Mathieu. If we’re able to sign him our defense is gonna be scary

Do you consider Carson Wentz elite and worthy of an MVP award?

People clinging the award have a weak argument. People clinging to his athleticism have a weak argument. People clinging to stats aren’t wanting to look deeper. A quarterback’s primary job is to throw the ball, and Lamar is subpar. The Ravens did a great job surrounding him with a system that didn’t require him to really be a pro QB. But it’s failing. Last year burst the bubble.
IIRC he had 4 games in his mvp year that were absolutely atrocious.
seattle and in heinz were 2 of them.

he's lucky mahomes missed games that year. that was the real mvp

We will be taking Willis if he is at 20, I think. It makes sense also. Trubisky is here so we don't have to rush him. When he inevitably takes over, he will have a defense in its prime, and the rest of the holes on the OL should be figured out. If everything goes absolutely perfectly, maybe we can flip Trubisky for a decent pick or two.

I'm still of the belief we have to pick a NT in this draft, and I really like Travis Jones out of UConn. I also think Cole Strange would be a decent pick up also as a swing G/C prospect. It'd also be interesting to see us get a guy like Faalale as a RT prospect. All of these guys are 2nd rounders, so I'd try to back up if we could to get some more picks.
