Looks like Seattle may be taking a QB in the draft this year too.

Looks less and less likely that Pickett lasts to Pittsburgh sadly.

Pat mcafee also said we were definitely in on Rodgers until the end. Take that for what it’s worth. I’m guessing we checked on Wilson and whatever price is being paid was too insane.

Gives me hope they’ll continue to be aggressive in checking out every option.

Honestly the best part is that Madden says the Steelers were never in on Rodgers at all but Macafee says otherwise and Macafee is one of the national media types Madden usually affixes to the ass of.

I’m really interested to see the return. You’d imagine they’d be a contender to draft a QB with whatever pick they got from Denver, but if Lock is involved maybe they just go with BPA this year. And then next year when they likely have a ton of capital + suck, get their QB.

Jags also franchised tagged Cam Robinson. That could make them go with a DE first overall which would push one of the tackles down to Carolina and potentially make them pass on a QB.

Edit: Ok yeah Lock is involved. I think that’s good news if you want one of the QBs to potentially slide.

When it comes to Rodgers, I’d trust Pat on his sources over anyone, really.

Whelp, now we have f***ing nobody.

Rudolph + Trubiskey (if he signs for 9million) + Haskins is pretty good

I listen to them both. Madden is a heel/antagonist. Pat is the fan boy/former player. Both are entertaining but for different reasons. We probably were in between where the two say on Rodgers. More in the talks that Madden would or did say, and probably not ever really a serious buyer on him till it was shut down like Pat says. Probably some drawn out kicking of tires type of conversations.

Out of any of the quarterbacks available for trade RW was the one I would have wanted above all of them. But if that’s the cost I’m glad we didn’t pay it. RW is a fantastic QB, but that’s just to much for him. That has to be the result of a bidding war.

At this point I'm hoping Seattle reaches on Willis so maybe Pickett or Howell drops. If we're taking a QB, at least give me one who doesn't have serious accuracy issues

Eh, I am in the camp that people waaaaaaaaay over value draft picks. I wonder what the actual success rate is of getting a game changing player with a first or second round draft pick. I personally don't feel like its close to being more valuable to getting a known game changing player at the most important position. There are so many trash teams that have had an abundance of high first round picks for years and are still trash.

I agree with you that people do overvalue draft picks. Around here regardless of if it’s hockey, football, etc. The majority of poster HIGHLY over value futures overall. So I fully agree with you there.

But man. That’s two firsts and two seconds, plus a QB and two other roster players… That IMO is overpayment for RW.

Only way I'd consider that an over payment if it was a bottom 5 team making that trade. If you are a team like the Steelers or Broncos that are probably going to be middle of the road regardless if you don't make the trade, the likelihood of you drafting a franchise QB is pretty slim. Plus Wilson is 33, not 38 like Rodgers, so you are going to get a few more years out of him.

The AFC is going to be ridiculous next year though. No wonder Aaron is staying, the NFC is pretty much going to be a two team conference.

I think football weighs draft picks way more because a lot of these guys see significant playing time right away. The first two day picks anyway.

Plus I'd say NFL players have more "predictability" factor vs hockey players. I mean there's a true feeder system with the NCAA right there. Add the fact that these players are a little older and not 17/18 yr old kids makes a huge difference too

Broncos were desperate 6 straight seasons of no playoffs and 3 playoff wins since manning won the super bowl. If they just make the playoffs they will be happy with this trade
No does Seattle flip DK since we know Pete is a running 1st defensive guy

The Broncos have had waaaay more playoff success in the past decade than the Steelers. I wish the Steelers would have some of their desperation if that is the case.

That division is going to be a blood bath.
