Here's the biggest thing the Steelers didn't address at all: backup RB

It’s Tomlin’s dumbass “we do what we do” approach. He’s done it for years with the RB position. Meanwhile we consistently have one of the worst RB rooms in the league. If Najee doesn’t pan out or gets dinged? Yeah have fun watching that for an extended period of time.
What makes it extra frustrating is the abundance of guys available.

He could spend another 30 years coaching here (he probably will) and still not learn a dam thing. Keep doing the same things.

Najee can probably carry the full season load this season but going forward they’ll need to have a quality spell back for him or he’ll be shot before he’s 27.

Ben just keeps digging a bigger hole. Talks about his upbringing that his dad would smack him for being me first.

What's his dad say about him hounding porn stars or the other extra shit he did?

Go f*** off already Ben. Keep the team name out that fat f*** mouth.

I like that Heyward is having none of it with his bullshit.

Heyward doesn’t have any SB rings, in large part because the Steelers have been a circus under Tomlin since Cowhers guys left.

Tomlin is the biggest enabler of the culture around the Steelers that BR is talking about.

Just because people hate the guy, once again, doesn’t mean he isn’t speaking the truth.

It not an accident they are on the longest playoff win drought in the last 50 years of a once proud franchise.

Heyward may not like what BR is saying because I’m sure it’s tough to look at his empty fingers and face the truth there.

BR spoke the truth and needs to stick by his words and not waiver IMHO. This franchise and its fans needed that jolt of reality.

Every team in the league has “me first” guys. Every team back in the early 2000s had me first guys. Social media just wasn’t around or popular for them to show the world how big of divas they were.

It’s just the typical retired athlete saying “Man it used to be different in my day!” We heard it 20 years ago. We’re hearing it now. We’ll hear it 20 years from now.

The Steelers were different when he came into the league though, not sure why people want to live in denial about that.

His first exposure to the NFL put him in the locker room with guys like Polo, Ward, Smith, Farrior, Bettis, Faneca, Batch etc.

I wasn’t a huge Cowher fan, but he along with those guys created that atmosphere of leadership and accountability.

By the time BR left the league, the Steelers were a clown show.

Their playoff facts speak for themselves for anyone in denial about what he’s saying.

You’re just living in the past if you expect things to be the same as what they were when he first came into the league though. The world has changed and how players act is changing with it. Players are going to use social media. Players are going to hold out to try get what they think they’re worth. And we as fans are now going to know every single thing that happens as soon as it happens.

People are going to want to make this a problem that’s unique to the Steelers but it’s not.

I also don’t think Ben has a ton of room to talk with how he acted early in his career. He won which is great, but his off the field actions were the definition of me first.

Guys going all the way back to Deion Sanders were self-promoters and created their own marketable persona to make money off of.

Let’s not pretend these guys never existed until recently.

Guys going to crazy town and quitting on your team, guys derailing an entire season to get worse contracts, guys caring more about Tik Tok dances, guys not being accountable for their poor play, that isn’t the world changing, it’s a team culture that was allowed to fester and grow into what it is now.

BR probably does share some blame for it, but most of what I read had WR and Oline guys praising him for being a leader, especially the WRs who said he was pivotal for helping them.

Ultimately, Tomlin is the enabler and the one who fosters the culture of this team.

Once again, that’s reflected in the biggest playoff win drought in 50 years.

No way around that, even if people want to hate BR for pointing out reality.

I never pretended they didn’t exist until recently. But they also didn’t have to deal with a ton of the distractions that exist in today’s world. And we as fans didn’t have the ability to know the second a player said or did something stupid. To act like the changes in the world haven’t played a massive role in how players act and how we perceive them is naive.

I don’t think Cowher would have stopped Bell from holding out. I don’t think he would have stopped AB from losing it. Maybe he would have stopped players from using it but whether it actually had any impact on the performance of a team is a whole different debate I have no interest in getting into.

I knew Austin wasn't a big guy but he looks like a middle schooler out there next to all the other guys. I hope he has the awareness to avoid taking shots. One big one could do him in for good.

How good does Mitch have to be for that to be a top 12 offense? I feel like the pieces are close. Or is the like still the hang up, even with the changes?

Typo - yeah

I mean without knowing where the line's going to be it's real hard to say. If it's like last year he's going to have to be a top 10 QB talent wise.

I think even if it's okay though he can't be much below average. Yeah the idea seems to be to present Trubisky or whoever with a bunch of easy options and let the weapons do the hard work, but even then I think that if they don't respect the QB's deep throw and legs and ability to hit a guy in coverage, they're just going to sit tight on the run and the short throws and smother everything like last year.

Just lovely:

“I think I can be a lot better at guard,” Green said. “To be honest with you, I didn’t really like playing center, but it is what it is. I’m definitely happy to get back to what I did.”

I think that whole thing was one of the most puzzling cases of "but why even try that" I've seen in any sport.

So Ben was right about that as well. Said Green should be a guard at the end of the year.

Hate on him personally all you want, the guy knows what he’s talking about.

It doesn’t matter how we perceive the players, that’s irrelevant to the overall point.

BR was in the locker room with these guys, he didn’t form his opinion about them through social media.

Maybe Cowher wouldn’t have talked Bell out of a year long hold out, but I used him as an example of a guy BR was talking about.

Bell cared about nothing but squeezing every last cent he could, and while I’m all for guys getting paid, there comes a point when it’s just greed and stupidity.

He took a worse contract with the Jets, is now out of the league and recently said he wished he had done things differently.

Tomlin enabled AB in ways Cowher never would have. From the training camp rooming BS to all the other shit Tomlin let slide, he enabled the AB monster to grow out of control.

Just like he kept letting Juju Tik Tok away until it got out of control.

Heyward and the fans and whomever else are just pissed BR hit a nerve, because the truth always stings when you don’t want to accept it.

Just lovely:

JT called that last year - give him his props.

Kenny Pickett not getting many reps and generally looking like shit when he does is amusing given the asinine reactions.

It's going to be a loooooong year w/the QB roulette going on.

From my standpoint it doesn't really matter
Pickett is essentially going to redshirt this year. He'll be expected to compete for the job next season.

Judging a rookie QB two days into training camp is also amusing.
