You keep pushing this nonsense with zero evidence.

Butler was being paid a DC salary for years when he was the LB coach.

Tomlin is the second highest paid coach in the NFL.

Using the AR2 is forcing a budget on Tomlin excuse is BS.

If Tomlin wanted the budget for a larger staff, AR2 would grant it.

If he needed a bigger budget to chase big names, AR2 would grant it.

Tomlin doesn’t want a bigger staff and hires his cronies.

You make every excuse in the book for this guy.

If he doesn’t land a big name OC this off-season, it won’t be because of budget restraints.
Anthony weaver makes 5 million a year to run the ravens dl Todd the oc makes 5 million a year
We paid canada 1.5 million

1 Team, Bears have already got their OC

The injury means there's a good chance you get what you pay for in that first season at least though.
Sure, that’s the trade off. If we’re trying to build something long-term, then it shouldn’t be a huge hang up.

Interesting the first candidate is a guy without NFL OC experience.

Also completely tangential but interesting he got hired for the NFL from PFF.
yeah but also not the same as you and I getting hired from PFF. Dude was a good college QB and a draft pick.

Yes, Ben was an absolute jerk.
Tomlin was also a coward and found a way to overdraft his guy (Edmunds) by one round at least.

We should have 100% drafted Lamar Jackson in 2018. Not even hindsight. Boo hoo, Fat #7.

Cement shoes stopped growing and progressing once Tomlin came to town.

Lamar wouldn't be the player he is today here. Probably would have been forced to use his legs and sustain more injury because this organization thinks Canada is an NFL OC.

If we're trying to build long term, then do we really want a guy who's had 2 ACL injuries in the last 5 years? Yeah there's substantial reward in his talent, but there's a ton of risk too.

More than that though, if we're trying to evaluate the QBs, I want instant fixes in on the OL.

Indeed so, and he was doing QB coaching work before going to PFF. I guess the interesting thing to me here is that PFF are/were drawing in at least some guys like him, rather than NFL teams going "oh hey he works for PFF, cool".

We have no clue what Canada made.

The article you posted last time was a “guesstimate” by the author.

Steelers don’t release the salaries of their coordinators.

So again, you are making shit up.

Regarding the OL, I think it’s also worth asking if we need to sign the best of the best out there and whether they’d be okay with a more average addition. There are a ton of RTs available in free agency this year, you don’t necessarily have to shoot for spending a ton on one guy. I’m not saying go cheap, but getting Eleumenor for $7 million and using the rest elsewhere may be smarter than getting Onwenu for $14 million or something like that.

I'd also be trying to see if I can get another Holcomb caliber guy at MLB for the same $6 million AAV that Holcomb is making. I would like their MLB depth if they had 2 Holcombs instead of just 1. An interesting idea if he hits free agency, how about Bobby Wagner? You could almost assuredly get him for around $6 million or so.

If we are going to sign OL then we need to find a good coach. We haven't seen progress in years from any OL we sign or draft.

The o line was a top 12 this past season in sacks the biggest weakness is c

Yeah sure dude... we are the 25th or so ranked Offense and if you pull all the crazy Defense (offensive field position) out we are bottom 5.

You literally have Donald Trump mouth and just make stuff up all the time. Crazy times....

Literally, when your ENTIRE offense score 31 TD's ... it's not just the QB. Or Canada. There are a lot of problems all over this Offense. It's starts with Tomlin too.. (sorry to kick your sacred cow)

The reason the offense was ranked so was QB play when Mason took over he was the top rated qb for 3 straight weeks and the line gave up a total 3 sacks in his 4 starts mason finished 1 td shy of what kp had this season

From the very article you posted:

Matt Canada’s most recent contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers was a multi-year deal worth an estimated $1 million to $1.5 million per year. The contract details, including the specific terms and length, have not been publicly disclosed.

I’m going to make up my own guesstimate numbers… he made 27 bajillion dollars.

Prove me wrong.

Are we done here or you going to keep spouting this nonsense?

that's literally not how stats work but whatever man... you do you and live in that dreamworld...

hilarious, you projected your own Offensive stats based on 3 games vs. subpar teams (one who was resting their QB for the Playoffs...)

Wow.

I just had an idea that could be an alternative to signing or drafting another tackle: why not call up Green Bay about a trade for one of their LTs? Green Bay has some downright absurd talent for OT, they have Bekhtiari, Tom and Walker all as starting caliber tackles. They won't trade Bakhtiari and I seriously doubt they'd trade Tom, but Rasheed Walker could be an attainable target.

They took him in the 7th round in 2022 and he has played well in the NFL, you could probably get him for a 2nd or 3rd without much of an issue.

Literally you are cherry picking stats.. we are literally ranked in Bottom 5 in terms of passing offense... You can't give up sacks when you barely throw a forward pass.

13 Passing TDs TOTAL...
Bottom 5 in Passing Yards....
4th least attempts....

You see where this is going? Just stop. You literally spam every thread with BS. And it's not even gaslighting... it's just dumb.

To my mild surprise, the Steelers' run block ratings ended as 9th on Baldwin's composite rankings. We definitely saw progress there over the year, I thought they'd just be dinged for all the runs into crowded boxes and the early part of the year where they struggled with Okorafor. Still, I think there's definitely been progress as a run unit (although counterpoint - that happened last year and they then horribly regressed, so pinch of salt).

Less surprising is coming 27th in pass protection and 30th in true pass protection. Dan Moore gave up the 2nd most pressures in the league and I'm guessing Cole and Jones are also highly ranked for their positions. Yeah, there wasn't many sacks. Great. Well done - they still let through way too much pressure and made way too many mistakes.

The OL needs to improve, pure and simple. I dunno that I want to blame Meyer when all the daft playcalls and poor communication would have hampered the OL as much as anyone, but there's certainly not much appreciable improvement other than they ran over a bunch of meh units in the second half of the year.
