Literally you are cherry picking stats.. we are literally ranked in Bottom 5 in terms of passing offense... You can't give up sacks when you barely throw a forward pass.

13 Passing TDs TOTAL...
Bottom 5 in Passing Yards....
4th least attempts....

You see where this is going? Just stop. You literally spam every thread with BS. And it's not even gaslighting... it's just dumb.
That’s because KP and Mitch were hot garbage

you seem to be shifting the blame of poor QB play onto the other players

Nope.

Tomlin is a problem.
Our OC's are a problem.
Our QB is a problem.
Our OL is a problem.
Our TE's are problems.
Our WR are problems;
Our RB were decent half the time maybe more... but hard running into brick walls all the time.

We were not very good on Offense across the board. Were we horrible all the time, of course not, but we were highly inconsistent and random which most of the stats kinda prove.

To my mild surprise, the Steelers' run block ratings ended as 9th on Baldwin's composite rankings. We definitely saw progress there over the year, I thought they'd just be dinged for all the runs into crowded boxes and the early part of the year where they struggled with Okorafor. Still, I think there's definitely been progress as a run unit (although counterpoint - that happened last year and they then horribly regressed, so pinch of salt).

Less surprising is coming 27th in pass protection and 30th in true pass protection. Dan Moore gave up the 2nd most pressures in the league and I'm guessing Cole and Jones are also highly ranked for their positions. Yeah, there wasn't many sacks. Great. Well done - they still let through way too much pressure and made way too many mistakes.

The OL needs to improve, pure and simple. I dunno that I want to blame Meyer when all the daft playcalls and poor communication would have hampered the OL as much as anyone, but there's certainly not much appreciable improvement other than they ran over a bunch of meh units in the second half of the year.
We need improvements across the board. Consistency was a huge issue. The week A,B, and C well. X, Y, and Z... fell apart. Pick your poison at that point.

It’s easy to post blanket statements like you’re doing. Let’s break it down by position — why is TE a problem?

You tell me what do you remember them doing well? Literally?
Freiermuth was hurt for most of the year. I don’t think he’s a problem. One bad year and you’re kicking him to the curb?

To me, you look like someone who was just looking for an excuse to post a diatribe about how bad the Steelers are.

I am completely fine with adding a legit LT and keeping Jones at RT.
I’d hate to give up on developing the guy we just invested a 1st rd pick on a year ago, but he’s gonna get a QB killed if he doesn’t improve his pass pro significantly. It’s a tough call, they probably already know if he “has it” or not.

Like you said, see if we can trade for good younger players, then let them battle it out. Competition won't hurt.

We can move some positions around or maybe back to where they should be if we have some decent depth.

The problems with the offense are OC, a big gap, QB and then OL. There is nothing wrong with the offensive skill position players on the Steelers, outside of maybe depth at WR. Which is something that will need to be addressed, because a 5’9” Calvin Austin is never going to be a legitimate #3 WR IMO.

If they still had Juju, I’d actually really like their WR group as a whole. Not that I’m complaining about him being gone, but the big thing they lack at WR is a physical slot #3 receiver.

Just because Tomlin is a moron and moved him to RT, doesn’t mean BJ isn’t a legit tackle.

Who cares? He played well at RT. I have no issues at all keeping him at RT if you can get a LT, nor do I have any issues moving him to LT.

I don’t think playing him at RT is “giving up on him”, though. Is LT a more important position? Sure, but both RT and LT are super important positions.

My point is that I have no problems with them viewing Jones as either a RT or LT, and I’m good with them adding either a RT or LT to play with him.

If I had to give an opinion of which I’d prefer, I think Jones’ skill set is more suited for a RT than a LT, so I’d probably prefer to add a power pass blocker LT (like Walker from Green Bay that I mentioned) and keep Jones at RT. But that’s me liking Jones more as an agile OT than a pass blocking OT, and it’s not a big difference.

Pretty much everything on the offence showed problems.

But there's a difference between causes and symptoms. And I don't want to say the WRs and TEs never failed their blocks or ran lazy routes but I think we all know they were a great deal more sinned against than sinning.

The causes of the offence's poor play lies with the OC (and Tomlin's instructions to them), the QB, and the OL. That's a vicious circle so it's hard to know who was most at blame but in terms of fixing it -

- It's completely academic as they don't seem to want to, but upgrading at QB is hard due to the paucity of super talented QBs and generally takes a commitment to development, while getting upgraded performance through better scheme and help is more doable

- There's not as many talented OL players as people would like but they're easier to find than QBs

- OCs that can do better than Canada do in fact grow on trees, but they might need Tomlin to stop adding a light dusting of stupid to their recipe (yeah, I'm still dwelling on Tomlin insisting they keep running it into stacked boxes vs Buffalo)

He was always going to be raw and need to develop.

He’s a LT.

He can’t use his dominant hand the way he’s used to on the right side.

It’s like trying to stickhandle as a lefty when you are a righty.

Thats why few T want to/can switch effectively, like Moore.

Moving him to RT was idiotic, no matter how people try to spin it.

LT is just the higher valued position, because of the pass pro responsibilities. We drafted him as a LT so I’d like to see that through a little more as he’s only 22. Moving him to RT is pretty much them admitting he can’t cut it at LT, which seems a little premature to me at the moment.

Yeah, that’s why I’m hoping to see him as starting LT in 2024. If he isn’t, that means he hasn’t taken the leap they were hoping he would.

Yet he was still good on RT, so I have no clue what you’re talking about when you insist he’s only a LT.

I think this is making an issue out of nothing. Keeping Jones at RT is not an indictment on Jones whatsoever if you have a suitable LT opposite of him

If you can get a strong pass blocking OT, keep Jones at RT because his agility and mobility work really well for the run game at the position there. If you can’t get a good pass protector and end up with more of an agile run blocker OT, moves Jones to LT. Either one is fine. Jones looks good enough that he can fill both a pass protector LT role and an agile run blocker RT role, depending on what you have in your other OT.

He was fine at RT, let’s no go overboard on how well he played.

You either don’t understand line play or didn’t pay attention to how sloppy his technique got from LT to RT.

He relied on his athleticism at RT, but that’s going to cause issues in the future. He has to relearn everything and he hasn’t even learned proper technique at his natural position yet.

It’s exactly why he hinted strongly he wants to go back to LT.

PFF had him as the 3rd best rookie tackle based on his extremely strong run blocking grades. Yes, he played well at RT.

I don’t have a problem with him being a RT if that’s ultimately how he fits onto the roster.

LT’s are expensive, getting a good one via trade will be costly. If we’re plugging a mediocre one in there, I’d rather develop the in-house solution in Jones. We already invested high draft capital on him with the mindset he would be our LT for the next +10 years, let’s see it though.
